***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

Oh no the bug has hit me, i had an £80 cashback voucher for argos. I've bought LEGO Fire Ladder Truck - 60107 for my 4 year old daughter and LEGO Technic Hovercraft - 42076 for me. My mrs asked me where it will fit, my response was ill make it fit lol. The addiction has started.

I hope they get shut down for good. And I honestly can't understand why any genuine fan would want this crap. You are not supporting Lego at all.

You're also not supporting lego by buying a retired set off a third party for 5x the retail price either. I get your point when discussing current sets, but if there's still a market for retired sets and lego choose not to produce models for it, you can't blame other companies jumping in, or consumers not wanting to pay over the odds to some speculators who bought sets just to sell them on.

This, I currently do not own any Lepin, but if they are doing sets that are not available from Lego then why not?

You are not buying Lego though you are feeding a bunch of crooks. You think lepin exist because they want to look after folks who wanted retired sets ?

You think Lego exists because they invented Lego?

100% this, Lego stole the idea from Kiddicraft, who not doubt borrowed ideas from others, its all the same, how else does anyone think we now have Ford, BMW, FIAT, Range Rover on the market, they all in one way or another stole ideas from each other... Its just how it is.

Copy cats are all out there to make money. And I will buy what offers me the best value. New Lego sets, they aren't that expensive, however retired sets are astronomical. And so I do look for alternatives.

Ordered the UCS Falcon this week from the Lego online store and was put on back order with a possible delivery of mid Feb, then got an email saying no stock available, and that my order will be fufilled one day. The day after that I got a dispatch email with tracking, does this mean I am getting it soon ? - Or are they marked as dispatched and delivered when stock is available ?

After a bit of a discussion with the missus (lol) I agreed to cancel the order, but now it has been despatched I told her even though I am strong willed enough to cancel an order I am too week minded to send it back! (She seemed OK with this logic lol).

The stuff I was comming out with to justify the purchase haha, as we are currently trying for a baby the old "I can keep it boxed and build it in 5 years with our first child" clinched it I think! ;)

Reminds me of myself when I say.. Well it will be worth a lot more in a few years.. Obviously never going to sell it!

Lol.

Why do you think Lego exists? To make you feel good about yourself?

They exist to get as much money as possible from people as possible.

Not the point.. lepin is a pure rip off and don't incur any of the R&D and license costs Lego do. If you think it's ok you prob have a nice plastic rolex as well

I think it's OK, are you going to get personal with me too? Haven't seen anyone else in this thread stooping low so far, so maybe rein it in a little?

Seems Not...

Interesting history. Seems like Hilary Fisher Page invented lots of toys...had a lifelong interest in it, from a child himself.

Seems like Lego did exactly what Lepin do. They obviously grew a business out of of it. Maybe Lepin will also. As Mega Blocks have done.

I think it's absolutely OK in certain circumstances.

By all means head over to ebay/BL and buy a discontinued set for 5x it's initial value from someone who bought every copy they could find in order to fleece clever boys like you.
