***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

Here's a first world problem.. What order (top to bottom) do I put my Technic cars on my shelves?

Well, you said the Porsche is your favourite, so I would put that one as a 'centre piece', then the lest favoured one at the top, out of the way. The other two be either below the Porsche or one below and another above. All depends on how the shelves are situated I guess ?

Agree.
6 shelves (floor to ceiling)
But top shelf is very high. Too high really in hindsight.

Bottom shelf is only used if get a 5th that I actually buy.

Sian and porsche are my favourites.
Just popped the ferrari in the shelf.

Probably need to move the orange pot plant!
Batmobile is too hidden too. Might move completely or to top shelf uHovnMh.jpg

That looks great ! Part from what you said, the batmobile is hidden down there at the bottom. I however see that you are very protective of your lego sets ! :p

Ha. That's a 3d print of a revolver. It was for a Halloween mulder and scully outfit. It looks too real to have out outside of the house.

Batmobile is either going to get relocated to a wall or moved to top shelf

You dismantled it in reverse order?

I’m not looking forward to doing mine but I need to do it as it’s just in the floor of the spare room at the moment. As soon as there is a hint of potentially someone coming, I’ll get the order.

The plan was to just dismantle it and bag it up into similar pieces (E.g. technic pins in one bag, big plates in another etc)
Yup - for two reasons really - 1) If I sell it, the new buyer would probably want to assemble as per instructions. 2) If I keep it and rebuild with my son in a few years, I really don't want to 'hard mode' it on our first big build together :D
I'm also thinking of dismantle.

Its just too big.
And I have to say as time goes on I like it less and less. Its the grey look. It's just so drab.
The problem with the falcon is it looks best from above and unless you have a decent stand that keeps it at an angle, it looks a bit boring. My only available space kept it on a shelf around eye height so wasn't getting to 'enjoy' it.

Agree with this. Can't suspend it from ceiling as looks naff from all other angles.

So really you're left with underside against a wall as horizontal footprint is ridiculous

Its best of the big grey star wars sets. At least it has some detailing

Do you guys get buyers remorse for these expensive (overpriced) sets? £750 for the Falcon?!
Nope - I spent months deciding on it, wasn't an impulse buy, was £649 back then though. However once you factor in cashback both via TCB and on CC and the points accrued within lego itself, wasn't too close to the RRP.

Mind me asking where you got that shelving from?

I'm still only half way through the Sian. Started just after Xmas 2020

2021 Xmas I also bought the Falcon, The Start destroyer and the D11. Titanic is back in stock. But No space for another big box...And currently no time for construction

I think it was from etsy. I'll see if I can find a receipt.
Someone on the forum said you can get the metal piping quite cheap. Then you only need some shelves and a drill.

In hindsight I think I over paid!

That Titanic is impressive..

Got carried away with YouTube (I know it's not Lego!) Trumpeter made a very detailed model of the Titanic too, wow.
