***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

You made the claim there were sets better so I assumed that meant something specific.

On the modern trains, everything is upgraded from the interior passenger space, access, control systems and use of modern parts giving a more realistic look + playability on the new sets.

All the below commentary aside, cheapest you can get fully working ones with box on eBay etc is typically c£80-120+. I know some people don't like to deal on eBay (no seller fees now) and so cheaper local marketplace pricing isn't uncommon. Assuming this is all working with genuine Lego parts than £50ish is a bargain so anything else is a moot point really. You can pay that just for the engine carriage.

Depends on the 7897 set condition, is it boxed as new, is it well played with or a collectors set (motor and gears do wear)? Lego is pretty long lasting if looked after, even the electronics keep going as the early systems were basically so simple nothing to go wrong ie switches, connectors and wire.

Downside is, if you do need to replace any of the main parts you can end up spending as much as the set on this era of trains as they are long out of production and moving rapidly towards the vintage category.

As an example of electronic Lego set longevity, amongst all my original classic sets (castle, pirates, space) I still have my original Space 6990 Monorail. It still runs ok although obvs getting on for 40 years old. The minifigures are all still good and parts still look ok albeit a bit of yellowing on some.

Helpful thank you. I have the original 1990s train and the train from early 2000's -- I can see the 7897 is a step up from both of those (especially the original one with that massive transformer lol). Just having a quick look at the 60337 to see if I think it is worth double the cost. Good to see it has a proper remote - that's what put me off the later Technics stuff as it required a smart phone.

The 7897 is without box - purely intended to get a battering being played by my 4yo and son once he is old enough. Will keep an eye out and see if anything pops up in between.

Thanks :)

Nice stands, but ideally I was looking for a "stacking" option - my shelves are 30cm+ high so could stack 3 or so of them.
Annoying having that empty space above each one.

Might have to try track down some kind of clear acrylic monitor stand type thing.

I get you, one of them does custom orders so may be worth reaching out to see if they can do something for you

I haven't got a huge amount of Lego, but the ones I do have are quiet large sets, like the Lego Creator Ferris Wheel, Home Alone House, Apollo Saturn V rocket and 1989 Batmobile etc.

I'd like to put them together in my home office but am struggling for decent looking furniture that would suit my room (denim blue walls, rustic oak desk and coffee table)

I've been through the thread somewhat but it's been going since 2008 and most pages are random images. Anyone got examples of what they have?

Probably best just check pininterest/YTube - I'm guessing 99% is Ikea based

Recently mounted the F1 cars in the man cave. Ready for the Ferrari one in March.

I didn't realise there was a Ferrari one coming too! I've still not got around to building my Mclaren yet and wanted to get the Merc next too.

Seeing as I'll actually be a Ferrari fanboy next season, I might have to get that one as well.

There's a Cada bricks Alfa Romeo: https://amzn.eu/d/gSmK93n and an Aston Martin at the same scale: https://amzn.eu/d/e1ROFD3 as well as the Red Bull from Rastar: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/316033668326 The CADA licence has expired so there won't be any more made most likely, unsure about the licence for the AMR but apparently the Red Bull is officially licenced.
