**** The Official OnePlus 5 Thread ****

The oneplus 5T gets more things right than the Pixel 2 XL gets wrong. Despite the average camera, it's not poor....it's just not amazing I'm keeping mine.

I think people were expecting a Pixel beating device despite being half the price. It was a huge ask. Unless Google gets it act together, I can't see me ever buying another Pixel. That said, the HTC engineers may sort out the niggles, but damn....£800 vs £400 is quite a difference.

I'm really liking mine, and I'm a hard customer to please. You never know, oneplus could roll out a software update for the camera which improves it ten fold.

Always on display would have been nice though.

Totally agree, I was looking at the Pixel and couldn't justify the price to myself.

I've seen mention online of an update coming soon to help improve the camera. If I can find the mentions, I'll post a link.

Edit: Found post from Carl about updates to camera here:

thats what im thinking i do use the camera a fair bit though. That said corners must be cut to maintain a £400 mark up which for the tech inside is pinching money. Do hope the software can give it abit extra though.

I think im gonna send mine back. The camera is fairly disappointing and the vibration is really loud\annoying!

Anyone have any experience of sending one back to OP? I've opened some cases so will keep them and sell on

ok so I have just been looking at some indoor photos I took on my Pixel XL (first gen) verses near identical ones I took tonight on the 5T

The pixel blows it away. There is a MASSIVE difference in quality between them. That is really disappointing.

Damn! I bloody love everything else about the 5T.

have you tried any of the gcam apk's that are based on the camera apk ripped from the pixel? this thread has some info...

seen something on the OPO forums to do with the specs and most of what people are saying is its down to the software but not convinced it will be massively improved with updates.. time will tell.

That said when i look at images that arent blown up i think they look good, i dont typically upload photos etc on to a computer and blow them up if at all, so not sure the camera will both me much.

The issue I have with that, is oneplus aren't know for their software expertise. It is their weak point. Yes they can add a few nice features and touches to an otherwise stock rom (has been know to be buggy) but that's pretty much all they can do.

This is bad advice, because you will have to carry two devices everywhere which will just be cumbersome.

I see the extra money on the pixel as the convenience of not having to carry a camera around to get excellent photos!

blue shift spoils the device far too much, U11+ > Pixel 2XL if anything and have some change left over.

from what i've seen some photos arent bad at all on this device for normal day to day use, obviously if your wanting to take much better photos for specific occasions then taking a camera would be better.

The only irritating thing I have with the OP5T is that it doesn't seem to want to play with the BMW Connected Drive app. Plug in the USB and the app doesn't sync with the car, the OP3 (also on 7.1.1) worked fine.

Most strange.
