**** The Official OnePlus 7/OnePlus 7 Pro Thread ****

Any twitter users out there finding it really jerky since the latest update?

I had to turn off ramboost to get facebook to be smooth again but no luck on twitter, it's just awful to look at.

I think I'll leave off of this update then for now. . I don't take many pics

My thoughts on the OP7 Pro:
- quite heavy
- the screen protector gives it too much friction as you swipe
- the curved screen isn't ideal with text curving round the edge, YouTube videos aren't full screen unless you make it so each time (and consequently chop off some detail), and videos on other apps e.g. The Guardian can't be made full screen so come with bars.
- it's too big and too long

To balance out the negatives, I thought the screen was expansive, sharp and clear, the speakers went pretty loud and the nebula blue was a really nice colour.

Returning it and waiting on October for Google Pixel 4 XL.

Hmmm, the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro looks very tempting. Everything the OP7 Pro is with the screen from the OP7.

Everything?

Quality haptics, better software and updates, UFS 3, USB 3.1, stereo speakers?, proper screen calibration?, 2 year warranty?

Does look good for the money though.

Mine went back to OP.

Cons for me:
- Too heavy
- Very curved edge with horrible reflection
- Pop up could be problematic in the future
- cameras not that great
- No wireless charging which I use every night

Pros for me:
- Screen and 90hz are fab
- Colour of device is nice
- Well priced
- OS is outstanding
- Fast updates
- Outstanding specs

However, I have the S10 plus in 512GB ceramic and I don’t think it’s worth losing the difference in cost vs resell value to swap. Screen is better and brighter on S10 and I actually don’t mind the hole punch. Performance is identical other then the screen scrolling.

Not quite sure why you wanted to go from an s10+ to a OnePlus 7 pro? Similar spec phones with both having their pluses and minuses.

All of those pluses and minuses are well discussed on the internet.

Definitely just keep what you have. Not worth the money you will lose on the s10+.

Must admit, I've watched a lot of reviews on youtube as well as reading impressions here and elsewhere, the 7Pro is an interesting phone for sure, but that screen is both its biggest asset and its biggest drawback.

I have come to accept large phones, but 6.7" is just too much... I remember them saying that about the first Galaxy Note @ 5.3" but this really is too big for me now, I would never buy a phone that big, and to make matters worse, in an attempt to make it more manageable, the curved screen is just a complete usability nightmare, particularly in a phone this big.

Samsung still do [curved screens] of course but even they've seen fit to reign it in a bit. It's a shame because the overall design and appearance is top drawer and the screen does look technically excellent.

If anything I'm actually giving some consideration into downsizing from my 2XL when the time comes - perhaps a standard Pixel 4 might be my thing next time around.

Curved screen and the lack of a tempered glass screen protector.

Hate the feel of plastic ones.

I understand the curved screen comment, that's why I've dropped my S10 and tried something different.

But honestly the screen protector thing is not an issue I feel. I haven't used one on a phone for 10+ years now and I haven't smashed or marked a screen other than the odd microscratch and at no point has it ever affected my resale value.

Also considering most packaged bank accounts come with insurance now I have that as a back up should the worst ever happen.

I don't actually know but I think its the 256Gb/8Gb version.

Just had despatch notice so will tell you more tomorrow.
