The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

I had a rough time last weekend due to cables.

Out of six, only two will work at do 1.2, and of the two left one was a cable I was trying to replace due to intermittent issues.

Everything went totally wonky with my system for a bit after changing, so still on the one with intermittent issues and don't want to go through the hassle I did at the weekend so may just leave it.

Yes, cables can have a massive impact.

Could you name all 6 cables and which two work (and which of those is intermittent)?
I wonder if this issue is worthy of its own thread...

I think someone here has this arm:

SilverStone ARM11SC

Does it have enough height adjustment to rotate the monitor to portrait?

While I do love my screen I find that it suffers a fair bit from discolouration around contrasting areas. See this pic, notice how the scrollbar strip on the browser window causes a lightened vertical strip above the window.

I can confirm that at least for me that a good cable makes all the difference.

Its only been 24 hours since my new cable was delivered but it so far has been all good

i originally bought a mini to normal adaptor from the bay-of-e and used the cable supplied with the monitor but it kept moaning about unable to maintain the refresh rate, or from sleep the same thing but with the screen flashing on and off and off and on before eventually settling down and youtube videos flashing a lot.

I had the same issue when using just the supplied cable on a different graphics card with a full size port, tho it wasnt as bad.

Google search "MDP2DPMM6" can be had for a bit more that the cost of a cheap mini adaptor!

yeah thats one issue out of 4-5.. in all honesty this monitor isn't worth £690. if it was around £500-550 mark then it'll be worth it.

this monitor is basically designed for work, not for gaming/movies

I have not seen any of that as yet, mine is as it comes out of the box, seems great, put PS4 on it today and that seems fine too, not as crisp as on my old Del 2711 but acceptable, I have not tried native gaming, I was interested in the scaler ability, 1080p PS4 stuff is good enough for me to take a punt.

For work 4k @40" is superb, shame about the crap stand.

Thats a shame, such a good size etc for games. Kind of upsetting to hear. great for work tho I guess, Like you said

I also spotted an artifact for the first time a few days ago.

I changed my desktop wallpaper recently and the next time I opened my news reader, I noticed that when I selected any list item, I could see two faint horizontal lines running the whole width of the monitor even though the app window only took up the middle third of the screen.

Hasn't put me off the monitor, it's still great for gaming and casual use but you definitely wouldn't want to use this monitor for pro graphics/video work.

First one faulty?

These seem to be in short supply (zero) everywhere again...

No, first one was so good (using it at home) I ordered another for the office to replace the 31" LG 4K monitor.

I ordered my 2nd one from the "rainforest" on Feb 13th.. so it's been a bit of a wait.

One thing I have noticed though.. there were talks about the screen giving people headaches, what with being a PWM panel. I hadn't noticed this at home, where I usually have either daylight or a filament bulb for illumination.

However, in the office we have flourescent lamps and the frequency of those combined with the frequency of the monitor did give me a bit of a headache (within minutes actually). So I've turned off the lights and the headache has gone. YMMV

Oh.......£600 well I've just ordered one of these for delivery tomorrow. Dunno why ocuk is so expensive when they are readily in stock elsewhere.

scrap that! just been playing around with shopping carts and shipping and £485 shipped from Italy is currently the best :) Going to look more into this tonight when I get home.
