The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

Cancelled it again as there is actually going to be a seiki pro with hdmi2.0 and displayport 1.3 in half 2 in Europe. USA got the 1.4 1.2 version and it's better than the philips because of a better stand but you can't order it here fullstop. Version 2.0 is coming to europe thankfully though!

Wow.. within two hours you'd ordered it from two sources and cancelled it from both !

i keep seeing some people think this monitor may need a firmware update but how would they make that possible there's no firmware update option in the menu. also it's unlikely it'll be by software because the monitor is only connected via DP or HDMI also the USB ports are only a hub, they didn't send/receive anything to the monitor itself.

That's what the RS232 cable is for ;)

Edit

Got a problem with mine . getting massive artifacts in some games like crisis 3 and advanced warfare .. im running 3 way sli GTX980s and slight overclock .

What resolution are you running 3840x2160 ? Have you run those games at that res before ?

Just wondering if your GTXs are getting hot at that res, rather than it being a problem with the screen.

Tell me about it...........I was finding it so hard to buy something without hdmi 2.0 because my amps all have hdmi 2.0 on them and I kinda wanted netflix 4k and my pc in 4k 60hz. I settled for the only thing I could which was
Panasonic VIERA TX-50AX802B 50" 3D LED TV 4K Ultra HD Built-in Freetime & Camera
Item price £849.99
Quantity 1
Item number XXXXXXXXXXXX
Delivery service Other Courier 3-5 days

Good refurb price I guess direct from Panasonic with warranty of 12 months. Unique in that it's the only tv with displayport and decent enough motion and lag for gaming on. Bonuses are 3d and netflix 4k.

Roll on the 390X cards in the summer!

You do know that's an MST and not an SST screen right ?

"Readers who have been keeping a close eye on 4K developments will know that earlier displays utilised Multi-Stream Transport (MST), forcing the initial batch of 4K panels to be recognised by the OS as two, or more, displays tiled together. Such a setup was hardly ideal, and the new scaler technology built into the AOC panel is a marked improvement - hook it up via DisplayPort and it's instantly recognised as a single 3,840x2,160 panel with a 60Hz refresh rate.

DisplayPort 1.2, then, is the connection of choice, however HDMI 1.4 (with MHL compliance), DVI and VGA inputs are also provided, though do be aware that using either HDMI or DVI limits refresh to 30Hz. A 3.5mm audio jack is provided for the integrated 3W stereo speakers and there's also an integrated four-port USB hub, with two connections offering SuperSpeed 3.0 capability."

I had problems getting windows to change to a 4k wallpaper. In case anyone had the same problem here's the work around:

copy and paste the following path into the run box and press OK:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\

Once there, delete (or rename) theTranscodedWallpaper.jpg file, and then try to change your theme again.

Found a nice snaping program that I'm using with windows 8 (Apologies if its already been mentioned). Freeware version works just great and might even cough up the $9 for the paid for version.

http://www.nurgo-software.com/products/aquasnap

The philips smart control app was absolute rubbish (for me) in terms of snapping. VLC media player window was all over the place and off screen when snapped which defeats the object of having all this bloody screen real estate. AquaSnap has solved this problem and now feel extremely pleased that I can now fully take advantage of my screen now :-D

edit: I particularly like how the edges of windows behave like magnets now and also how you can make any window forced to be on top of another which is useful when using calculator app etc

What kind of problems?

Just booted pc up and my monitor was going crazy craxy flickering and going off and doing it for about 2 mins and now fine .. what the heck is this ? also i got light bleed in all corners when there is no imput or a film with black bars , not on ink black background but its there . slightly worried about this flickering and then blank screen and so on for a couple of minutes . Im thinking problems are going to start to arise as maybe philips are yanking these out in double time due to demand .and over seeing there QC .
