I'd like to see a new Demon's/Dark Souls game on a PS4. Medieval armour always works for showing good graphics. Garn dang it PS4 I want it now. I keep throwing my moniez at the TV every time I see a PS4 ad on Youtube.

Did you miss the trailer for Deep Down at Sony's PS4 unveiling?

I know that I'm in the extreme minority that would hugely miss BC...

I am still of the ilk that loves to play games in the same room with my mates. Often flicking, in an evening, between lots of PS1, 2 and 3 games from each of our collections. (A fight or two on Tekken2, a skirmish on TimeSplitters, a game on Fifa10 etc...)

For me BC is a big deal and will be sorely missed :(

I have had a Playstation since 1995, and I’ve never not had one since. I’ve had four PS1 systems in my time, 2 PS2 systems and notched up 5 PS3 systems but only due to three of them all failing for blu ray playback issues which Sony then out of good faith changed my old 40GB Phat for a 320GB Slim.

Currently got a PSP (soon to be upgraded to Vita) and only one Slim 320GB (upgraded to a 500GB drive) with Move Controllers and in all this time of being a Playstation owner I’ve had and sold 1 xbox which I never regretted selling as much as I regretted buying it, a Dreamcast which was an excellent console, a game cube which never got used and 2 x xbox 360’s each time purchased for me to play forza, got bored of Forza and sold the 360’s soon afterwards.

But never had a single month, or even a single day since 1995 without a playstation. I’ve tried all the major games consoles, owned quite a few of them since 1995 yet none have lasted or had the love I’ve given the playstation. The xbox 360 controller however is a masterful bit of kit, and I have each time I’ve had a 360 wished the Playstation controller would evolve into something like what MS have had for years with the 360.

The more I read about PS4 the more I’ve started to get excited for it. But not because I’ve owned a playstation for so many years. But because it does sound like it will be a bit of kit that will go back to the roots of a playstation, but have all the modern things we expect from a console.

Backward compatibility however will be something I’m not overly bothered about TBH. I’ll keep my PS3 for my PS3 collection, I sometimes wish I’d kept my PS2.

It's the same with me, I couch co-op with friends a lot and we'll often play older console titles as well when we feel like it. I'm not going to make the same mistake this time though, and will be keeping my PS3 for BC reasons. Made the stupid mistake of trading in my PS2 and most of my games when the next gen hit and had to buy another one and all the games over again when I wanted to replay them (I'm not into emulation). Due to keeping hold of my current consoles this time, I'm not too fussed about the PS4 not having BC (at least not from the start for PS3).

I’m going to keep my PS3. My hopes are that Sony extend PS+ to including PS4 meaning those with a PS+ sub can get games for PS3 and Vita with PS4 added when launched, allowing those PS3 games to be still played on my old PS3 whilst I also have a PS4.

As I’m trying to get most of my games for PS3 nowadays digitally or via PS+ as I’m thinking along the lines of having the PS3 with my games on HD and reduce the need for blu ray discs.

Reason I like having my games on Steam for PC, as I’m a laptop gamer I can carry my entire game collection with me, for I’d like my PS3 games collection mostly digital if I can… Obviously with stupid pricing on PSN games not always possible, but hopefully I can find most at reasonable prices on PSN and keep my PS3.

I regretted selling my PS2 as I did miss GT4. And burnout takedown.

Chances of this one being hacked for custom firmware?

it took them several years to hack the ps3, and even then the hack was never released to the public only photographs that it had indeed been hacked by the same guy who hacked the ipod, he was then hunted down and taken to court by sony, he immediately stopped everything and most likely wont ever release anything in the future.

what was released to the public was the backdoor used by service engineers who had a special usb pen with a chip inside it to open the backdoor into the console. this again was completely different from the "proper" hack and actually invented by sony themselves, this public made hack therefore made it out by one of sony's employee's releasing it. i do not think the same mistake will be made again by sony.

again this was quickly patched with firmware updates.

custom firmware again is not useful unless your wanting to pirate games and therefore cannot really be discussed here, also if you do go down this route it usually means you cannot use your console online without it getting banned, making it offline only and therefore in most cases useless.

therefore i reckon the chances of the ps4 being hacked are slim, also how useful the hack will also be is pretty much none to most people.

the console costs £400, which is the equivalent of 13-15 games. therefore you would need to effectively pirate at least 15 offline only games before you break even.

imo with online being such a huge thing in most games these days only a handful of people would actually benefit from custom firmware. again you would most likely need another console to use online, taking up space, etc. imo it's actually better to just buy the games and this is coming from someone who uses torrents and third party app stores on a daily basis.

I used to own a PS1 and PS2 but I decided to skip the PS3. I bought a 360 which I absolutely hated and only used a handful of times before turning to PC gaming. The PS4 does look interesting and I do miss having a physical copy of a game despite how much I love the convenience of Steam. Opening a newly boxed game and getting that amazing smell is something Steam cannot offer.
I recently got my old PS2 out and surprisingly it still works flawlessly although the controller is partially broken. If a PS2 can last 10+ years then it gives you hope for the PS4. Can't wait to get the PS4 and hope it's around £300-£400.:)

I used BC a ton on PS2 with PS1 titles. I didn't get a PS3 until only recently because I think games this gen have been really quite poor and repetitive with little imagination behind them (I'm not into linear platformers or FPS games.) The good games I've generally played on PC.

I'm hoping that Gaikai takes off in Japan and devs realise the financial potential of bringing their old library of games to the online market, like how it's done in the west.

To be able to purchase and play catalogues of old games like Shadow Hearts, Suikoden, Breath of Fire, Xenogears etc, via Gaikai would help revive the JRPG genre in the country IMO. There is a ton of old games I want to replay and experience and I hope the ease of development for the PS4 will help port those games to the system.

I know it's likely not going to happen, but I would pay a lot of money for those titles to be available on the modern system. I do still have a PS1 and PS2 and the last time I checked they both worked fine, but my TV monitor doesn't have a scart :p And besides it's much easier when you have one system for the games instead of messing around with consoles.

Pinch of salt:

Apparently, it’s the day to leak E3 2013 announcements. Hot on the heels of the rumored Microsoft E3 2013 listings comes this rumored list of games to be announced from the Sony camp.
Originally posted on the SCEA page on E3Insider.com, the page has since been updated to remove a reasonable amount of games. You have to view the cached version of the page to see what was removed, but we’d rather save you the hassle:

Beyond: Two Souls
DriveClub
EverQuest Next
Gran Turismo 6
Infamous: Second Son
Invizimals: The Alliance
Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom
Killzone: Mercenary
Killzone: Shadow Fall
Knack
PlanetSide 2
Puppeteer
Tearaway
The Last Guardian
The Last Of Us
Until Dawn
Warrior’s Lair
Wonderbook: Diggs Nightcrawler

While there are a reasonable amount of new titles in there, I’m personally stoked to see EverQuest Next and The Last Guardian. If this list is to be believed, will they both release on the PS4? Are there more big guns hiding behind the scenes at Sony? There doesn’t seem to be any hint of Destiny, so could they be adding to the list?
It looks like every day, E3 2013 looks to add more and more intrigue. June 10th is taking too long!
