*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I'm addicted to BF4 at the moment, put 52hrs into it in less than a month. I'd say it's worth getting the PS4 for it alone so £400 ain't bad.

Wow, that's actually awesome imo. An advantage it may be in terms of responsiveness, but to people who have gamed on PC's all their life, a controller ius a horrible FPS experience, and at least with one of these then you can play them how you want to play them. Besides, people who have used consoles for years are so good with joypads as to be easily as good as an above average keyboard and mouse FPS'er. Only the top few % of hardcore PC gamers will have such a big advantage imo.

I am not a great FPS gamer on PC (I just haven't got the lightning reactions for it), and such with joypads on consoles, so this is the exact kind of thing I can see myself buying with a clear conscience to make me at least on a level playing field with people who are good with joypads. :)

EDIT - It does seem it's a pita to setup though according to research, and does seem to have some negatives.

what a load of crap.

it's such a huge advantage it gives you it's like your using a ak47 in a knife fight.

only if you were special needs would it be a level playing field against experienced pad players.

This has really annoyed me and put me off buying fps for it. What's the point, honestly. Ps4 should block support for this.

there is no way to block it, the way it is designed is to mimic a control pad, that's why it is so expensive, the console doesn't even know its a keyboard and mouse the input is coming from it thinks it is coming from an original controller.

i know where you are coming from but the only thing they could do to stop it is essentially actually support KB and mice from the start and then make different servers for them to play against each other.

only gimps then would use XIM's in controller servers but it would make people think twice if they could use a KB and mouse without spending £100 on top.

either that or make controllers more effective in regards to the analogue sticks, they aren't anywhere near as accurate as a mouse.

Can anyone hear their PS4's when it's on standby or off. I have mentioned it before, I hear a buzzing sound coming from the power supply, is this normal?

Just finished killzone aswell. The last few levels definatly wern't as good as the first. The shooting wave after wave parts were pretty boring. I love the slower more interesting parts in the earlier levels the most.
graphics stunning of course... but for me the sound was even more impressive...really gave my bass a good workout.

Argos have stock near me, feel this is my last chance prior to Xmas but 400 quid to play bf4......stick or twist?

If you have the money then defo , bf4 looks and plays great online from what I have seen and even though I bought the killzone bundle I will probably be playing bf4 more when my console arrives .

Do you have a UK PSN and US account or are the games playable on a uk account?

The US game will end up playable on your UK account.

1. Purchase on Amazon BF4 PS3 Digital + $10 PSN card
2. Log into US account
3. Activate as primary account
4. Reedem PS3 BF4 code
5. Reedem PSN code for upgrade
6. Buy PS3-PS4 upgrade
7. Start BF4 PS4 Download
8. Log back into UK account
9. Activate as primary account
10. Play

The game will always be tied to your US account and all DLC will need to be purchased from US PSN, but it works fine on UK.

Seem to be having trouble with mine coming out of standby.

The blue light just keeps pulsing and nothing appears on screen (blue light of death?).

But turning it off completely and turning it on works every time. Gonna try a full reset.

no probs here mate - but unfortunately I have it next to loads of other gear (CCTV, NAS etc) in my front room so can't really tell!

And I'm usually a stickler for stuff like that.

Plugging headphones into the pad and then having all the audio play through them is such a brilliant feature. It feels like the PS4 is this gens 360.

Is anyone's LAN connection a bit slow as well? Running the speed test, I only get about 25MB/s throughput, whereas I should be getting the full 60MB from my connection. Tested the LAN cable on my laptop and its fine.

EDIT: Could just be the PSN servers still getting hammered I suppose, but all the tests consistently seem to be 20-25MB/s.

If you have a 3D TV, I encourage you to buy it, you won't be disappointed..[/QUOTE]

Got this yesterday after reading your quote. Looks amazing on my 3D TV and it's also a cracking game. Cheers
