Vita remote play over 3G just about works.. It worked for Resogun and fifa 14, I used a friends 40MB fibre to a PS4 connected to a 60MB virgin media line, obviously only was quick as the upload from the cable line, but it was reasonable.. Wouldn't want to play killzone over it, but zen pinball and again resogun and fifa 14 worked fine.
I think it sounds promising. Sony servers will have more upstream than most home connections, regionally based servers to reduce latency and I'm sure Gakai have a better video codec than Remote Play as well.
To be honest i would use it to play older games from PS3 I missed. It's unlikely to be the latest FPS or Sports game that needs fast reactions as I would just buy the current installment on PS4 and play it Locally.
The only issue is what/how they charge for this. I think OnLive had 1 or 2 plans where you could play certain hours or certain games etc.

People will realise how little they value backwards compatibility once its (an additonal) chargeable - I really hope they let you do it by x amount of titles as I sometimes have the urge to play something old rather than wanting to do it on a regular basis...So Gaikai is going to be a subscription service that could be on top of PS+.
It's an interesting idea and I wonder when the UK will get it.
I wonder if playstation now multiplayer will require ps+.
wow a double paywall....
Probably dreaming but if they used trophy history to detect what games people owned and allow PS+ subscribers to access those without an extra charge that would be cool... never happen though.
Have put my PS3 in the bedroom so not fussed will continue to enjoy the games I've yet to play once I get bored of the current PS4 crop.
silly little note that this thread is now only 10 posts behind the XBONE thread which was very far ahead not too long ago... yey for PS4 (slightly fanboyish but i dont have the room for 2 consoles and i have always had the sony consoles i wasnt going to change and the build up to launch didnt change that)
Anyone's Tesco coloured controller shipped yet?
Edit: Just got my dispatch email
Nah, you're not the only one to notice that, this thread was way behind on the x1 thread at one point but recently the Ps4 has had a lot to discuss.. It isn't down to fanboyism the posts increased, its just down the news of good sales, stock issues, controller issues, PS+, Playstation now and vita remote play and well all sorts of stuff.
There is a lot to discuss about PS4, it is a very good games console.. Sony as pointed out above, did learn from MS - well from the xbox 360 it seems.
The PS4 seems more of a successor to the 360 then the x1 does IMO.
The xbox thread had loads of posts about the drm.
Most of the Bone thread will have been discussion over the DRM, always online & subsequent reversals... I also remember something about the Bone having a super secret GPU that would make it better than the PS4.
Is it just me that thinks the touch pad should be on the back of the control pad like it is on the Vita? The fact you have to take your fingers/thumbs of the buttons/sticks to use it seems silly when you have fingers resting on the back of the pad that have nothing to do.
