*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Vita remote play over 3G just about works.. It worked for Resogun and fifa 14, I used a friends 40MB fibre to a PS4 connected to a 60MB virgin media line, obviously only was quick as the upload from the cable line, but it was reasonable.. Wouldn't want to play killzone over it, but zen pinball and again resogun and fifa 14 worked fine.

I think it sounds promising. Sony servers will have more upstream than most home connections, regionally based servers to reduce latency and I'm sure Gakai have a better video codec than Remote Play as well.

To be honest i would use it to play older games from PS3 I missed. It's unlikely to be the latest FPS or Sports game that needs fast reactions as I would just buy the current installment on PS4 and play it Locally.

The only issue is what/how they charge for this. I think OnLive had 1 or 2 plans where you could play certain hours or certain games etc.

Agreed. I'd like the service to play something like GT4 or 5, last of us, GOW etc.. The games I've just sold to fund the PS4 etc.. I don't like having loads of devices under the TV, so the PS3 went. Well, actually i've just moved back into a place on my own as got rid of the ex, but I know what I mean and I didn't want a Ps3 and Ps4 under the telly..

So a streaming service much like the netflix of games to allow me to play classic Ps2 and recent Ps3 games on my vita and PS4 sounds very good to me.

But have to see what the latency is going to be, I'm sure a good internet connection will do the job mind. Last of us on my PS vita, yep I'll have a bit of that please..

So Gaikai is going to be a subscription service that could be on top of PS+.

It's an interesting idea and I wonder when the UK will get it.

I wonder if playstation now multiplayer will require ps+.
People will realise how little they value backwards compatibility once its (an additonal) chargeable - I really hope they let you do it by x amount of titles as I sometimes have the urge to play something old rather than wanting to do it on a regular basis...

Id happily pay for that rare convenience...

ps3ud0

Probably dreaming but if they used trophy history to detect what games people owned and allow PS+ subscribers to access those without an extra charge that would be cool... never happen though.

Have put my PS3 in the bedroom so not fussed will continue to enjoy the games I've yet to play once I get bored of the current PS4 crop.

i did the same initially with my PS3, i have only been on it for about 5 mins and that was to reset the HDMI settings as the bedroom TV is only 720p.

it is currently living in the bedroom of my 6 year old to play disney infinity on with her new pink TV that she got from santa/argos/me.

i may move it back for the odd gaming session every now and then but i did the same with the PS3 and although i did go back using the compatability to FFXII for a bit once i got the adapter to copy my memory card but thats about all it got used for.

silly little note that this thread is now only 10 posts behind the XBONE thread which was very far ahead not too long ago... yey for PS4 (slightly fanboyish but i dont have the room for 2 consoles and i have always had the sony consoles i wasnt going to change and the build up to launch didnt change that)

Nah, you're not the only one to notice that, this thread was way behind on the x1 thread at one point but recently the Ps4 has had a lot to discuss.. It isn't down to fanboyism the posts increased, its just down the news of good sales, stock issues, controller issues, PS+, Playstation now and vita remote play and well all sorts of stuff.

There is a lot to discuss about PS4, it is a very good games console.. Sony as pointed out above, did learn from MS - well from the xbox 360 it seems.

The PS4 seems more of a successor to the 360 then the x1 does IMO.

i was just preparing for the abuse but it is a great system, both consoles have had a lof of greif but i cant justify the X1 over a PS4, i have the camera on the PS4 and it bugs me i have to start a party chat to disable it in game or the other players can hear me and the misses talking but its small enough to sit atop the TV, i have a nearly 2 year old who like to touch everything, i know the kinect would get destroyed by her... i caught her trying to plus other leads into the USB sockets, luckily she didnt realise there was a disk drive or it may of been worse.

i hope the X1 does well and gets a few great exclusives as i will at some point pick one up but not until they can be had for £200ish second hand with a couple of games that i want to play.

now all i need the PS3 for is Dark Souls 2... it may make a return to the living room when that is released :D... until next gen is out

Most of the Bone thread will have been discussion over the DRM, always online & subsequent reversals... I also remember something about the Bone having a super secret GPU that would make it better than the PS4.

I too remember that , x1 is a good machine. forza 5 is stunning but the extra cost makes it harder to recommend overall. I too have a two year old girl. when she is with me at the weekends she loves the playroom on ps4. those little robots make hd giggle and run towards them everytime I put it on, but I agree. the camera us smaller and she doesn't tend to notice it and try and grab it... which is good : -)

Is it just me that thinks the touch pad should be on the back of the control pad like it is on the Vita? The fact you have to take your fingers/thumbs of the buttons/sticks to use it seems silly when you have fingers resting on the back of the pad that have nothing to do.

i disagree as i find im always catching the touchpad on the vita, and have to change the way i hold it to use it when required, its more like a touch screen on the controller.

it works well as a latop style mouse and i dont think having it on the rear would give the level of accuracy required.
