Price cuts aren't the answer after only three months on sale in a handful of regions.

Cutting the price isn't going to achieve anything right now except cost them more money. The early adopters have bought their console(s) of choice, the people who are waiting are doing so largely because they want a bigger game library and aren't done with the last gen yet, which is why there's a dip in sales. Pulling people into the next gen early by way of a massive price cut is pointless when that money won't be made back for ages due to a limited library of titles. That applies to both consoles; Sony could cut £50 from the PS4 price tomorrow but it wouldn't change the fact that I still have a huge number of PS3 games to get through first.

People on here might be happy to dismiss their old consoles in favour of playing Generic Shooter 7 in full HD, but the sales of current-gen titles indicates that quite a lot of people are still more than happy with what they have and it's not just because of the cost.

In any case, this is the PS4 thread, I don't see why Xbox sales or strategies need enter the discussion.
 
Sony already did an effective price cut at launch when they decided to unbundle the PS4 Camera. They wont touch the pricing until they are good and ready or any price cuts MS does actually has a meaningful impact on sales. I dont see Sony even considering til demand becomes less pronunced and all launches are complete - no point in a price cut if your direct competitor isnt physically out there...

Yea I don't think Sony will even consider a price drop until MS get the XB1 below the PS4 price
 
Well we are still waiting on the war thunder patch.

This means that the PS4 patching system hasn't been fixed or updated yet. Hope Sony fix it soon.

I don't like the idea of downloading unnecessarily huge files when I need to swap out drives this week, if they fix the system then I won't need to download as much data meaning I'm back online quicker.

I see my line has now settled on 13MB up from 10MB, not bad but still a long way from what I used to have with VM 120MB.

Hope they fix their system soon not only because of bandwidth issues but so we can get the updates we have been waiting for.

plex works on the ps4 through web browser

otherwise having a TV which has DLNA helps, so i'm not overly fussed about this feature.

i don't stream media much anyway, better off just connecting a laptop or pc straight to the tv these days, much less faffing about and much more stable and HQ picture.
 
Yeah i do connect my PC to the TV. Its just much more convenient with the PS and my TV has DLNA but the picture quality is poor compared to being able to stream 1080p X264 through the PS which looks pretty amazing. Its the only reason my ps3 is still sitting infront of my TV.
 
My PS3 is still my main media playing device so although it's not a complete deal-breaker for me, I do hope they add decent media streaming support soon, improve the BD playback functionality and make the existing media remote compatible too.
 
I just want to be able to store music on it. The master bedroom has the PS3 linked to a soundbar and I keep 50GB or so of music on there at any one time depending on what I'm listening to most.

I'd love to be able to do the same in the living room as we both work out in there.
At the same time, it takes only a minute to bring the PS3 downstairs so it's not a major concern. Hopefully they bring these features soon though
 
Just wanted to say Netflix works like a dream on the PS4! And in full HD too.

Anyone know if there is a way to watch web content through the PS4 web browser full screen? Best I have managed is just to zoom in but that is not ideal as still doesnt fill the TV.
 
Never tried web browser. I think there is a setting on PS4 where you set the size of your TV - although I doubt this has any affect on the browser but that's all I can think of so maybe worth a try.

Browser was pretty rubbish on PS3 so never thought to try it.
 
Anyone seen the new PS4 ad with Thief 4, Infamous and Destiny? Cant believe they are already pushing Destiny already when its 6+ months away - was actually surprised...

Well its just clips of all three games then their boxart with the respective dates - think its like 20secs long.

It was crap considering they should be pushing games, perhaps its a bit to earlier for Infamous only ones I guess - all Im really looking forward to...

I've noticed that when posting a thread asking stuff or on a certain topic then looking the topic up on google and all I can find is my thread! :mad:
