*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Just a quick musing on my recent experiences - played through Until Dawn and just started the borderlands telltale game series and had a quick go at the Game of Thrones one too.

The telltale ones seem absolutely rubbish compared to until dawn. It does help that I do like horror films and 'teen slashers' but there it felt like every choice, or most of your choices, made a difference - probably because of the threat that your characters may die (although I won't comment further on that to avoid spoilers!).

Yeah... disappointed with the telltale ones :(

I enjoyed The Walking Dead season 1, thought the story was really good, could not get into season 2.
Until Dawn is on another level, brilliant interactive story.

Does anyone know if there is a 1TB (or even 2TB) external hard drive sold which I can dismantle, swap the 1TB drive into the PS4 and put the 500GB from the PS back into the caddy? My external HD has seen better and I'm sick of the lack of space on the PS4 so I'm thinking I can kill 2 birds with one stone, I remember this being the way to do it a year or 2 ago but seem hard to find now.

Yep, there is a thread about ps4 HDD here somewhere. Seagate expansion 2tb 2.5" is the one I got

Had my PS4 since launch day 2013 , have to say very disappointed with the games so far.
Dont get me wrong some really good games out for PS4 but it does not have the same gaming feel as the PS2 & PS3 did , not really sure what direction Sony are going these days they seem to lost their way or it must be the game developers . I really miss a good platform game or racer but just does not seem to be around at the moment , i did hear that Crash Bandicoot is going to get a makeover for PS4

Do you agree ?

Nope, I don't agree. I personally feel spoiled for choice games wise this gen. I have a day off today and I need to decide between Fallout 4, Watch Dogs 2, Titanfall 2 and Deus Ex along with stacks of others I've yet to complete (gears 4 on xbox)

I would say PS4 maybe isn't the greatest if into racing games, Xbox has the edge due to Forza but Gran Turismo will come. Platformers you have Rachet n Clank on sale right now.

You maybe feel differently about the PS4 due to being older?

I'm enjoying my time with PS4 but it's not quite up to the standard set by the Xbox 360. AAA games are taking longer to produce so there are less of them now.

I agree a little with TheHitMan-1973, but I still think this gen has been good so far, 2017/18 is looking great for AAA games.

Saying that Im currently pretty bored with gaming on both consoles. I think this is more due to my age and not being as interested in a lot of games now and getting bored a lot quicker with games I do buy. There is only a few select games that I get engrossed in and can complete them.

And like Ic1male says AAA games that look epic seem to take an age to produce and a fair few that have released so far and hyped to the max have ended up being poor.

the seagate ones work, i got the 2tb one from sogra (read in reverse) , put the old ps4 drive in the case and use that as a backup 500gb usb drive :).

I am rather late to the party but finally got a PS4. Got a fantastic deal on the MM for the console and game so couldn't say no!

Having PS+ for the past 2 odd years on my PS3 has also helped as have 88 games to start with :)

Decided I am going to aim 99% at the console exclusive games as I have a good PC for anything multi format. Picked up Tearaway and Gravity Rush which I am really excited about playing, especially as the pair cost me £18!

Been really surprised at how reasonable games are for the system so far and coming from the XMB on the 3....its AMAZING!

I too think along the same lines as you.

I have been disappointed with the lack of variety in games one PS4 with a decent size budget (non indie) that are not repetitive sequels

The gaming industry has changed a lot since the PS2 / PS3 era with a lot of publishers only backing annualized sequels and less inclined to back third party studios. The innovation has moved to 'Indies' smalls developer who can self publish or need little publisher support with crowd funding or early access. I think the truth is that the two 'ends' of the industry are now very polarized and there is very little in the middle ground (a lot of commentators saying the same thing about the movie industry in terms of budgets - you either have very cheap films ~10m budget or very expensive films ~100m's) I believe the games industry is having the experience at the moment. Mobile games are also another influence on this.

I personally feel the entire gaming industry has diluted itself and that's why for me the current console era is a bit of disappointment
