*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

The only cleaning I have done to my Pro is run a q tip along the side events. How easy is it to to open and clean the fans? I have a can of compressed air, what else should I do once inside?

I heard it can be a bugger to open I'd be scared of any clicks and cracks.

If you've ever taken anything electronic apart then this will be a piece of ****. I folled a video tutorial and took my time, was a piece of cake althought I had to adjust as i've got the old PS4 Pro model. Took some photos of it which you can see below:

If you don't want to take the whole thing apart, you can take the top cover of the PS4 Pro off without any tools which does at least give you some limited access to the internals so you can spray compressed air in to remove some of the dust.

Just changed the pads and paste on my pro. Wow, normally NFS heat has it spinning loudly but I honestly thought I'd forgotten to reconnect the fan. The size of the pads is lol worthy.

My PS4 decided it doesn't want to play Blu-rays any more, halfway through watching Saving Private Ryan last night, it just stuttered and stopped with the sound of the drive trying its best to read, I could hear it spinning up and the optics moving.
Tried other Blu-rays and it just gives an error about unable to read disc.

Anybody had this before? Can I fix it?

I get it from time to time. You have to clean the lens on the disc drive. I watched some YouTube videos to prep myself beforehand. It's pretty easy to do. I've had to do it twice over the past two years.

Has anyone replaced the thermal pads with the grizzlys on the original ps4?

I repasted mine over the weekend, simple enough and it made a big difference, but thinking i should have also done the pads so will take it apart again next weekend maybe to do those too?

I have done a ps4 & Pro recently, used grizzly pads, really straight forward & made a big difference

thanks, mine is just an old boy original.

I cleaned it out really nice over the weekend so its not longer going into leaf blower mode, but only had paste, and no new pads. The ones on there were a bit shriveled and small so im going to pop it back open this weekend and replace those too.

Only wanted the console to play Spiderman, UC4, TLOU2 and GOW, but basically all the most demanding games!

At least want it to remain as quiet as possible during my time with it!

What is all the fuss I've been reading over Firmware update 8.0? Haven't been on the PS4 in a long, long time and seeing a bit of a ruckus...

Saw a few people were annoyed because it messed up party chats.

In what way? I've just installed it tonight and so far haven't seen any weird issues that they're all talking about. From games not working, to friends list not loading, to some saying their ps4's not starting up.

It looks a lot better but is lacking a few features.

Mainly the wishlist. I use it a lot to keep track of games I am interested in and can easily check if any of them are on sale.
