I haven't decided for definite yet, but I'm leaning towards "yes". I still have a few PS4 games that I haven't played yet. Those, along with whatever PS5 launch titles are worth picking up, will give me plenty to play over the Christmas break. Means I can sell my Pro now while it has a little more value.

I haven't even played a single PS4 game (been away from gaming properly for a long time) but this is also my strategy. Instead of using the PS4 slim now, sell to use as funds for PS5 and enjoy the old titles on there.

The software stack? Windows is still using APIs that are "ancient." So until it gets DirectStorage and other improvements, there's always going to be I/O bottlenecks even with the fastest SSDs.

Yup, but there again, except maybe some edge cases, normal games don't really need all that speed (compared to the other hardware in the console: GPU, CPU), although perhaps it doesn't require that much optimization for streaming assets since that bandwidth can brute force it quite well.

Again, I dunno. Sony have already mentioned that the decompression hardware is using the equivalent of 9 or something Zen cores.

Who here has decided if there pre-ordering ? Just curious
Almost certainly - but again, if there are no compelling launch titles, my Pro will happily keep on playing PS4 games. There would be no point buying a PS5 to only play PS4 titles when a year down the line we might see the first cost-down on the PS5.
If there are some good looking launch titles, the equivalent of "Smart Delivery" so newer PS4 games are automatically upgraded to PS5 enhanced games and enough PS4 games being patched to make use of PS5, then I'll pre-order.

I've been transferring the odd £50 - £100 over to my Amazon balance now and again, so will be pre-ordering from there. Enough in funds for console, second controller and a couple of games.

Allot more people ordering than I expected tbf! I registered interest with Game Collection but not a pre-order, cant decide who to pre-order with for the moment

If I do it'll be with Amazon probably. I was fairly set on a pre-order before March but then the world somewhat changed and I'm not convinced the launch line-up will be what it would otherwise would have. Wait and see though, I'll have the money there if the games are there, the hardware is decent and the price is right.

100% will pre-order. Unless it's a ludicrous price, but anything around 599 or lower I'll want it day one. Always used Amazon in the past so will do again.

I keep chopping and changing between PS5 and XSX but I think it's got to be PS5. I'm just itching to ditch my PS4 Pro and move on to a faster machine so I can play all my PS4 games again (and those that I have left untouched purposely to play on PS5). These days I'm spending most of my time playing janky PS3 ports on PS Now. So yes, I'll try and pre-order if I can.

I think it took me six months after launch to get PS4 and six months again to get PS4 Pro but this time around I'm hyped like never before.

I'm the same. Playing Uncharted 4 right now and coming to the end. Playing on an OG PS4 and it looks stunning to me. To be able to play it again on a PS5 with HDR and the extra resolution is going to blow me away. Games like Spiderman, God of War and TLoU2 as well are going to be glorious.

I'll be pre ordering both PS5 and the new Xbox.
Very exciting times ahead, I just hope the hype is worth it.
I'm hoping the PS5 can give us more in the way of backwards compatibility but this remains to be seen. Fingers crossed.

there is no solid BC plan for Sony yet, might want to keep that hype in check until they announce their plans

Warning - rumour alert.

Some talk going around of a Bluepoint-developed Bloodborne remake/remaster for PS5 (which is also touted for PC). It was allegedly due to be announced today at the now postponed reveal event. If true (and they are only rumours), it probably means the Demon's Souls speculation was wrong.

No, it’s not Bloodborne, it’s Demon Souls.
