First world request, but do you reckon Sony will incorporate/introduce Alexa/Google Assistant skills with the PS5?
I hope not. It is built into my OLED TV as it is and although I have not enabled it and not agreed to the privacy policy, god damn thing is still probably invading my privacy and recording everything. Ugh..

Is it some bespoke solution then? I didn't know it was out already.

Guess it depends if you're into the whole smart house stuff. We've got Alexa going for our Sonos stuff downstairs-a simple good morning turns everything on so even the little one can get involved.

I think there would be quite a lot of people who would like it but from the above it appears Sony could be going their own route so you've got nothing to worry about.

Turns out you need the device separately and it connects to the tv. That said it seems to have google assistant and you can do a lot with the tv all by voice speaking into the remote. Was close to opening the magic remote and removing the mic, but settled with just not agreeing to their user agreement so now if I ever press the button by mistake it pops up an option saying you need to go agree before being able to use it. That will do I guess.

Yeah, that’s fair enough. I used to love the idea of such a thing growing up, but I just don’t trust these companies with such things. Not so long ago there was an article which said employees would even listen to people having sex or other private conversations. **** that :p

Quite literally what they were hearing:D.

As expected Xbox will be the more powerful console.
As I said before I am still buying PS5 for exclusive games and sticking to my PC for everything else.

No brand loyalty here, I haven't had a console for decades. The XBOX is undeniably more powerful while the PS5 has a better storage solution it seems, I think PS will probably have the better launch titles and tend to have the better exclusives, and I can play XBOX titles on GP, so I'd probably buy a PS5, but not until long after the dust settles and I can make an informed choice. I don't buy anything on launch.

They both look really strong on paper to me.

I'm impressed by both consoles. It's always been the type of exclusive games that have sold me on a console rather than the specs though, so I'll be picking up the PS5.

Personally I'll be buying the PS5 over the Xbox at launch because I prefer the Playstation's dualshock controller over the xbox's one. I also appreciate the fact that Sony have VR support whereas Microsoft appear to have given up on it entirely.

To me these are more important things than counting Teraflops. I'll probably buy an Xbox next year (or when they drop the price) so I can play Halo/Forza so not overly worried about fanboying over a specific system though! I'm sure both will be good.

This autoplayed on the TV this morning and I found myself paying attention to it the more it went on.

Seems we are really in for a big treat what ever console you choose.

I don't think we'll be seeing either of them this year at the current rate, they cannot possibly be able to justify having Chinese factories packed with workers producing these things against a backdrop of hundreds of thousands/millions of deaths.

Xbox Series X is being built by robots according to Digital Foundry. Of course there will be people involved but not rows and rows of them as one might imagine.

If they do launch I imagine stock will be in very short supply.

@ic1male It isn't just the assembly lines it's making the components and getting them to site too. The whole supply chain will be disrupted.

I'd agree. If you want one at launch I'd be hitting that pre-order button the day retailers start listing them!

That's often the case with new consoles anyway but likely even more so this time round.

I also wonder if the disruption caused by CV19 will lead to increased component and manufacturing costs which could in turn affect the pricing of these systems. Doubly important as companies like MS/Sony will probably be making loss in the short term when selling these systems.

I don't think there's any supply side issue tbh, if Apple can make 50-70 million iPhones which are MUCH more complicated Sony & MS can pump out a million consoles no problem. The issue is demand side, if we get to a full on depression no one will have money for rent let alone consoles.

That's very true. Especially as these systems (XBX/PS5) are likely to be around £500 at launch.

Mind you, not having a months rent in savings doesn't seem to stop people buying £1000+ phones though most of these are on monthly payment contracts :D

I suspect if most folk spending £500-1000 on a phone actually had to hand over the cash upfront Apple sales would tank!
