Haven't played Lost Judgment yet but, as a fellow Yakuza fan, I don't think you'll be disappointed. From what I've seen, it has the best combat in the series and, while a bit more grounded, there's still plenty of crazy side content and a good story to boot.

I don't think I'll play it on PS5 though as I really like to go through these games in full-on Japanese and that's way easier on Steam as I don't have to import a copy and pay ridiculous money just to get Japanese subs.

Judgement is in Japanese on the PS5. I own all the Yakuza games digital and they are all in Japanese. I would never play a Japanese game with English dialogue yuck

Yeah, but I'm talking about everything in Japanese, not only audio. I had to import 0 and 6 to have Japanese subtitles, meaning written dialogues etc.. I think buying from the JP store or importing is the only way on console.

I've recently had a rude awakening when I learned switching system language to Japanese does nothing in FFVII Remake and all the dialogue subs, menus and item descriptions are still in English:P
On Steam, that's done in like three clicks:P

Thanks chaps, looks like Lost Judgement for £22.49 is on the cards then I guess. Do I need to play these games in order or can I just dive in as I assume Lost Judgement is the second game?
I prefer the Japanese dialogue with English subs myself too - it doesn't feel right otherwise.

Edit: Oh balls, 83GB download
 
From what I've gathered, the stories are relatively unconnected but ideally you'd want to play Judgment for some extra context and backstory.

I try to play Japanese games fully in Japanese, including subs etc. as it gives me good language practice but on consoles it's troublesome so I stick with PC for that purpose. Thankfully, FFVIIR is actually somewhat better in English (not counting pretty big liberties taken between JP and EN script).

It is the second game not sure if it follows on because I’ve not played it yet but as it’s the same main character I suppose it must do in some ways. Judgment can be had pretty cheaply 2nd hand and they are both frequently on sale.

Okies cheers gents. Going to purchase LJ and just leave it downloading all day. My connection isn't the fastest :o

Edit: Ah it’s not 83gb but 46gb for PS5 version and 42gb for PS4.

If you have not played Judgment play that first. It’s very good and Lost is set after the events in Judgment with same main character and references Judgment quite a bit….

Pre ordered a PS5 with GOW but the comparison videos on youtube show theres an obvious difference but it doesnt seem to be that big...

Those with a PS5, are you noticing the difference in other games and would you say its more the difference in things loading thats a benefit?

Huge difference not just load times. Frames and resolution are the biggest differences to most games.
