Ps4 was noisy

For me the things that instantly made me go "wow!" Coming from ps4 pro to ps5 was:

* The OS, UI software is so fast!
* The store is so fast, game pages take half a second to load instead of 5-10
* Downloads are super fast, can download 50gb in couple minutes instead of couple hours
* Very quiet when gaming!

Bounced off GoW 2018 a couple of times, am trying again now and making more progress as would like to finish this before trying Ragnarok.

Not blown away so far but only a few hours in, does look nice even now but very linear and not really much exploration possible. Story quite engaging, keen to know more.

The scenery and backgrounds look vast and gorgeous but might as well be on a spaceship as I'm essentially just walking down corridors to certain larger areas where I battle a few foes or a mini boss and then back to the corridors.

Does it get more open later or is this it?

There is an open ‘hub’ area but essentially it’s pretty linear. Took me 3 attempts to finish it but I am glad I did in the end. Once you realise who everyone is the story is really quite good.

After a year of not touching my PS5, had to dust it off and start playing again.

Finished HZFW - the patch to get balanced performance - wow. Amazing what a difference 10fps makes. Score 9/10. Only critique would be the flat voice acting and facial animations, especially on the last chapter. Just didn't have the gravitas and impact.

Ragnarok ordered cannot wait.

Any other games on the horizon ? Had a Google but nothing major it seems?

God of War: Ragnarok is going to be awesome can't wait for it, Wednesday can't come quick enough!

The Callisto Protocol is out next month, looks like it going to be a cracking game, if you like space/horror types games... :D

I'm actually wanting some linear games, I'm tired of every franchise or new entry wanting go chase an open world tbh

Was replaying FFX and thought how much more I was enjoying having a more guided path. I know YOU have the choice but I become a massive autist playing open world games, BOTW an example. Supposed to be rescuing someone, felt weird going off exploring the world ignoring the actual task at hand. Same for me in a lot of games like that, I do accept not everyone is as weird as me though lol.

No I agree. I’m sort of tired of open worlds. I’d rather have a more linear story focused game that is maybe 15-20 hours long (30-35 at a push)

I think most people are getting tired of open worlds by now, me included. They're just exhausting in the long run and most devs don't know what to do with the formula except shove in obscene amounts of repetitive faff that would discourage even the most hardcore gamer.

My favourite type of "open world" games are those that are built around a decently sized hub with dense and varied content, like Yakuza or Deus Ex, off the top of my head. I find that much more enjoyable than plodding through another gigantic map with question marks, towers etc.

I welcome more linear and story-driven experiences now, even though I'm having fun with Forbidden West and Ghost of Tsushima (surprise, surprise, it has Japanese subs, see Square Enix and Sega? It's not that hard).

Ghost of Tsushima is probably the best example of an open world game we’ve had for years. I’d put Spider-Man up there as well. Just always interesting and never tiring. Looking at you Ubisoft.

Oh my goodness I am loving it. Around chapter 5 had a few good hours again this afternoon.

What difficulty are you playing on? I was playing it on Hard but it was getting a bit irritating as the slightest wrong move and you restart, so bumped it down so I could enjoy it abit more and made it flow nicely

Has anyone pre-ordered the new God of War? It's out this Wednesday.

I enjoyed the PS4 game that came out a few years ago - then enjoyed it even more when I played it again on PC earlier this year so I'm excited for this Wednesday.

Just normal. I remember the first was frustrating in places. I’ve still died a lot on normal but it’s not too bad.

Just completed Last of us part 2, trying to decide what to play next. I have the following on my list, some I played on ps4 and would like to replay on ps5 and some only half played on ps4 and want to restart and finish. Days Gone being similar themed, might leave that for now. What would do you think I should play next on ps5? Thanks

Days Gone (started never finished)
Detroit Become Human
Stray
Spiderman Miles Morales
Ghost of Tsushima (completed story only on ps4, didn’t clear map)
God of War 2018 (never finished)

Days gone - one of the best games I’ve played, it gets better and better.

Detroit become human - interesting story and choices, but slow at times

Stray - quirky, cute, short

MM - absolutely adored this game, Spider-Man, but developed a tad more and a cracking soundtrack. Shortish.

GoT - just an absolutely beautiful game in every way, wow. Another one of my top games. Visually breathtaking at times as is the soundtrack.

GoW - epic from about minute 1 and it just builds and builds.

Along with that theme, I just preordered Ragnarok :D

My order:
Days Gone (I saved this for when I had a good bit of time off work)
GoW
GoT (again, needs time)
MM
Stray
Detroit
