Nice one. I think you’ll enjoy !

If you haven’t tried days gone, that’s great too (starts a little slow, but a fantastic cast+story) and also the spider man remaster is a must play

Also worth a look:

GoW 2018
TLOU Remastered
Uncharted 4
Ratchet and Clank
Bloodborne
Resident Evil 7

(If they are still available - not sure because of the recent changes to the PS Plus tiers / subscription).

And yeah - Days Gone is one of the best games I’ve played.

Great tip yeah, Days Gone was on my radar actually. Is it on PlayStation + ?

Thanks for these too, I’ll defo check these out. Not sure I’ll have enough time to get through these. Took me about 2 years to fully play though RDR2 (which i absolutely loved btw, one of if not the best game I’ve played)

Don’t know what to play first now, all those have been downloaded.

With the edge controller can I plug it into mains to charge and still use it?

Good sized living room with a young child and a bulldog would make it impossible to plug it into the ps5 lol?

Those games I listed don’t necessarily showcase the PS5 capabilities, but they are still great games.

As far as I know Days Gone is on PS+ Extra.

On PS Plus Extra you should also have access to exclusive titles like Returnal, Demon’s Souls, Death Stranding, FFVII remake, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man and Spider-Man Miles Morales, the two Infamous games, Everybody’s Golf, Tear Away Unfolded, Stray, Detroit Become Human and Uncharted the lost legacy.

I accept some of these have now been ported to other platforms, but they should allow for a range of game experiences and you may not of played any of them before.

Gave the Edge controller a run today and it feels great to use. Very impressed, when playing COD and FPS it’s almost like cheating.
In what way is it like cheating? Are a couple of back buttons really that much of an advantage compared to a regular controller with KontrolFreek stick extensions?

Even if it was reasonably priced I think I'd hold off until they released one without that godawful glossy part on the front.

It’s ridiculous how much of an advantage there is. You can aim and jump/drop without taking your thumbs off the analogue sticks for a start so movement whilst aiming is way faster.

Second major improvement is the adjustable triggers, I can fire my gun way faster and fire a pistol like it’s an automatic.

Still having a play about with the software as you can change how you want the analogue sticks to react.

I’ve also swapped the right thumb stick to the longer length domed stick that comes with the controller as it’s more precise for aiming.

Were you never playing with the top buttons rather than triggers for shoot/aim? I have had that setup for years on COD.

I've always had my triggers switched to the front bumpers so there would be no advantage for me.

I've had this for 10 or so years with some £10 KontrolFreeks so again, no advantage for me.

Haven't played recently, is this not an option on the regular controller too? If not there's no technical reason why it wouldn't work so it would just be Sony giving an unfair advantage (aka cheats) to those who pay up.

I was wavering and starting to think about purchasing the DualSense Edge, but after reading people's comments on Reddit and elsewhere and thinking about it I think I'll forget the idea for now. Whilst £200 is a lot for a controller it doesn't necessarily put me off, but the battery life is disappointing and just don't see me benefiting with the types of games I play on the PS5, if I was more in to multiplayer games like Fortnight, CoD etc then maybe, but with HZD2, GoW2 and those types of adventure games I just don't see it making much difference.

Definitely think it's lends itself more towards multiplayer / shooting games but I've found it really useful for other games too! I was playing a bit of Sackboy last night and I mapped roll and jump to the different paddles on the back and it just makes it much more comfortable than having to press the face buttons all the time and take your thumbs off the sticks.

Battery concerns are definitely valid - but I think if you're not playing for more than 3 or 4 hours in a single stint then you'll be fine as long as you whack it on charge between sessions.

That's my thinking too. The standard controllers are good enough for me ; the poor battery life on the Dualsense Edge, combined with a non-replaceable battery, means these will become £200 paperweights before long.
