The Edge battery is apparently 30% smaller in capacity than the standard DualSense, which explains the lower battery life. Seems they had to make room for the new features but it's still a questionable sacrifice to make.

So I caved and bought the Edge controller... It arrived yesterday and I had a session with it in the evening and an hour pre-work this morning!
I mainly stuck to MW2/Warzone 2 as I typically play that with friends - then the PS exclusives whenever I play solo.
The battery points are definitely valid, after about 2 hours last night it was showing medium charge level left so would assume it's probably around the 5 hour total mark? I definitely think it's one where you should drop it into the charging dock after playing or plug it in. It doesn't effect me loads, I never play more than 2 or 3 hours in one stint, but it's a bit annoying to remember to drop it in the charging dock after I've stopped.
Outside of the battery, I think the actual controller is brilliant.
It's got a nice level of weight to it, not too heavy to make it a brick but it feels like it's solid. The back paddles are great, I'm using the level style vs. the half moon that also come in the box. The levels are a little easier to push and has meant jumping and shooting at the same time is pretty straight forward.
The half moon shapes are comfortable but I feel they need more of an 'active' decision to be pressed, whereas in MW2/Warzone 2 I'm in a state of panic 90% of the time so pressing the paddle instantly helps.
The trigger stops are also so so good. I missed having these (I had an old Xbox 360 Scuf that had these back in 2011/2012) and it makes firing single fire guns so much easier.
A small clip below from Shipment where it shows the jumping and shooting - and also fast firing pistols with the trigger stops helping.
The grip is also lovely - both on the rear where your hands sit but also on the triggers. I haven't changed analogue sticks to the others included as I quite like the default PS5 ones but we'll see if that changes at all.
Overall I'm enjoying it! I need more time to get comfortable with it but I'm happy. I do think it's too expensive (150/160 would seem more fair to me) and the battery life is frustrating - but I'm happy with it so far! We'll see how it's going after a few months.
Just picked up a PS5 and have Witcher 3 GOTY in my PlayStation library. I downloaded it and believe the PS5 upgrade / Next gen update is free? If so, how do i initiate it? I can see the next gen update but when i navigate through the store it keeps linking me back to the standard Witcher 3 at 24.99. It’s either a really easy solution or I’m missing something and i own the wrong version for the free update?
EDIT: I think I’ve found the the solution. Delving into the store i found the option to download the PS5 version, I’d downloaded the PS4.
I had it on my controller I had with the pro, sometimes it can be dirt and grim that has made its way into the stick, cleaning can help but on mine the small joystick thing under the thumb sticks had broke
There are 4 little pads or something that go it and out the make the movement and they break or get stuck causing the drift as they are in contact all the time.
I did fix it with another controller that broke as these bits come off and you can replace them, bit of a fiddly job but I tend to try and fix stuff, even though I have no idea sometimes

Congrats on getting a PS5. I saw your posts on the Series X thread, and I would say it is a wise choice.
Yeah, be careful on the PlayStation store, make sure you select the correct version when buying anything and if the game includes PS5 and PS4 versions, make sure you select to download the PS5 version following purchase.
I would recommend getting the PS Plus Extra subscription as you will have access to a ton of games that will keep you busy. The PlayStation Plus collection alone has enough to keep most people busy for a year!

I echo this. I have PlayStation plus extra. So many good games on there.
Ghost of Tsushima directors cut has been my goty so far. Cleared everything on the map/s. Which is very unlike me.
Even considering new game plus !
Edit - and playing it through on fidelity at 60fps was an absolute dream. This is a seriously stunning game. There are a couple of large wide, sweeping fields full of flowers, or pampas grass that are utterly stunning.

Ghost of Tsushima was my post Days Gone game of my summer holiday. Epic times. Everything about Tsushima is stunning.
I’ve certainly had some brilliant gaming experiences on my PS5.
I definitely got my consoles the wrong way around, should have picked up the PS5 on release. Can’t wait for Starfield, but there’s been a huge gap of nothingness for me on my XSX.
Anyone else having issues with fallout 76 and patching? Seems to require a ridiculous amount of space to do it, I've read why but I'm not sure any of my other games complain.
