The official Ps3 thread

ROFL! I'm pre-order number 212 at my local purple shirt outfit and they've STILL got some for the shelves!

Launch day console quantities are like food on your plate, if you're hungry for it then rather too much than too little I say ;)

Just downloaded firmware 1.6. Only took 15 minutes for 100 odd meg.

Once you d/l the firmware under the network the folding tab is there, you then need to download another app of about 50Meg, which is the folding client. I am doing that just now too :D

Dunno if i should use my old folding name which is on the Custom PC team or just do a new one.

Ohhh the PS3 makes a noise!! lol when folding i can actually hear my fan, very feintly

Hi mate can you confirm which account you logged in to download the 1.6 update? also I have heard that people with jap/us machines with pal games cannot get online! I hope this is wrong.

Really confused about which games to get though

Definitely Motorstorm and Resistance

Otherwise its RR7 (only iffy as Ive done most of it on X360), Tony Hawks, or Formula 1 - probably go for TH rather than the other two, and wait and see other people impressions of F1

With Flow, GT:HD and Suduko on download

Since i updated i can't get online in Motorstorm or R:FOM :(

And that is a US account on a US machine, but there are a few folk having issues. Might just be load as it is 9am eastern in the states.
Oh and it is US copies of the game too.

Why dont you download the rr and f1 demo's to test em I didnt like them, also flow for some reason has been delayed! :(
 
I can't see the hype about Motorstorm.

Unless you intend playing the same 8 tracks online over-and-over, and don't mind the lack of offline multiplayer then it seems ideal. For me though, the 2 online+offline game options seem a bit limited :(

I tend on getting Resistance:fall of man + NBA Streetcourt :cool:

Im not updating my jap ps3 until I know the score, I hear their is a way to get round updating your ps3? I hope sony havent screwed us or I will never buy any Sony stuff again.

...they did say not to import the consoles.

I suppose it's a bit of both when it comes to who to blame though. Sony for screwing the importers (after they knew how many had shipped abroad), and the importers for assuming the forgien consoles would be fully supported after Sony released their statement.

Saying you won't buy another product is a bit extreme though, surely?

I think that online the tracks are created randomly and that all the tracks wil be different, the 8 tracks are only in single player.
 
Nah i don't think they have locked down the regions. There are a few folk in america having some issues too.
Also with worldwide servers coming it makes even less sense to start locking down regions. They would have to try do it by i.p. for it to affect me and i doubt they would go to all that bother.

Which account did you update the ps3 from? I have a us and hk account, will the firmware be the same for the pal machines?

I used my US account on the US machine.

I dunno i think the firmware will be slightly different, i know that my JAP psp's firmware is slightly different to the US firmware.

So will my jap ps3 automatically download via japanese servers? or should i create a jap account? I havent had too so far though.

I don't think u need a PS network account to get a firmware update.
I would sign out the network then run the automatic update update from the XMB and see what happens.

When I did a firmware update a while back I was logged in on a US account and got a Jap firmware update on my Jap console. I know it was a Jap update because a new menu option appeared which was written in Japanese... anyone else had this or know what the menu option was as I cant read Japanese?
 
btw i dunno if i mentioned above, but the folding client has a globe that shows you all the PS3's in the world that are folding. There was one in glasgow **cough**me**cough** and someone in edinburgh. So when you guys get it i will see you on the map whoopieeee
