The official Ps3 thread

Got mine at 9am this morning. All setup and updated. Didn't see anything about the casino royale disc, but I preregistered an account, so I'm guessing its only for totally new accounts. Might register another account and see what happens.

Lovely piece of hardware, I do like the fact everything is integrated; power brick, blu-ray etc.

However the controller is nothing compared to the 360 pad for me at least. It feels light and flimsy by comparison and doesn't sit in the hand as nicely. I also think the triggers are a tad too small and I prefer the arrangement of analogue sticks on the 360.

I go into connection settings/list connections and it actually shows the wireless connection I've manualy put in and half the time it shows, connected and signal strength of around 40%. Half the time it shows not connected though :mad:

Maybe the lack of an antenna hurts it's range?

Good to hear the machine pushes out lots of heat yet is still very quiet, this is a big plus when watching movies.

I can kinda hear mines when i am folding, but that is pretty much the CPU going 100% solid
 
Picked mine up a couple of hours ago
I went for the stores top bundle 3 games VF3 Motorstorm and RFOM ,2 blu-ray movies (kingdom of heaven and ultraviolat) An extra control pad and a blu-ray remote for £573 !!!!!

I gotta admit its a nice looking peice of kit but it attracts dust like theres no tomorrow.
It took about 30 mins to setup everything (updates ect)

Ive played motorstorm and ROFOM and I love ROFOM not quite got the hang of motorstorm yet though I keep blowing up every 30 seconds or so ah well.

All in all I am impressed just need to wait till I get paid then Im going to get a couple of more movies.

THis is the first console I have ever got on launch so for some reason it makes it a little bit more special than usual

Sure you've put it in the right folder? You need to create a folder in the root called PS3 then another subfolder called UPDATE then you stick the .PUP file in there.
 
Another silly but basic suggestion on the wi-fi problem.

You HAVE gone into Network Settings and told it you are on a Wireless network NOT wired right?

change theme colour on my PS3?

Hey ya'll picked up my PS3 this morning have updated to the latest system software but can't find where to change my theme colour??, there doesn't seem to be a theme option in settings like on my PSP so i'm stuck with rather upleasent salmon pinky colour. Could someone please help??!!.

YOu cant change it yet hopefully they let you do it in a firmware update soon though

Mine was black last night its now pink lol
 
You can't change the theme?? how retarded is that!! apart from that limitation Im enjoying the console so far, but much prefer the 360 controller its so much more comfortable in your hands and doesn't feel cheap and nasty like the PS3 one.
 
updated via a memory stick and it still can't connect properly :(
I'm going to have to try moving the position of the router or setting up a bridge through my pc.

Motorstorm is quite good but misses the rumble, I wish I could play it online.
 
It conected to my wireless router no probs no idea what the prob is there mate :confused:

Just been playing F1 for any1 who likes F1 you must get this game:)

Now going to load up MotorStorm im loving the ps3:)
 
Anyone know why I cant connect to folding@home

It loads up fine, loads my name and team, but doesnt connect to their server to get any work. Just gets stuck on Preparing for Download.

Everything else like the Store, online games work fine so dont understand it

Possibly has something to do with it, but i am sure they said the PS3's where on an alternate server. But sounds like it could be the problem
