The official Ps3 thread

Ok my PS3 is horizontal, at the back where the cables plug in i can feel hot airflow. At the side i can feel more hot airflow.

Something wrong with your machine then, This one does gets louder yes.

It goes from pretty much silent to quiet.

But Very loud, No chance.


As for hot, Yes. Definately kicks out some heat

Nope been plenty of other ps3 threads just none in the general ps3 thread. Several games coming out this month :)

Do your fans spin back down from level 3 when you're back in the XMB? Mine didn't and I got a replacement today, much quieter and I can feel the airflow with this one whereas my first one didn't seem to be moving any air. Bottom line is that if your fan doesn't spin back down from level 3 then you should be eligible for a replacement, although the sony support people will make you work for it

Nope they don't spin back down... stays at level 4 as far as I can tell :(

The arrogant **** on the phone today wouldn't even listen to me though :mad: I'll try again tomorrow and see if I get someone different!

My fan didn't spin down after going to XMB from f@h. :(

Gave it 5 mins or so, didn't spin down, I turned it off and back on again and it was silent, put GoW II in and it the fans went back up again I'd say they were like Level 3.

Hope my PS3 is alright. :eek:

It's probably fine, F@H will generate a lot of heat and 5 mins isn't a long time. My problem was that it hit fan level 3 when it was just playing a dvd and stayed there for hours after going back to the xmb.

For some strange reason playing PS2 Final Fantasy XII makes my PS3 really hot, the fan(s) start spinning very noticably, I haven't experienced the same increase in fan speed playing Motorstorm.

Playing a BR movie and it stays very quiet.
 
I'm going to see about trading mine in over the weekend and getting another 360. Not particularly impressed with the Blu-ray films I've watched so far - that was one of the big selling points for me. Only Casino Royale has looked outstanding. Most others look a little "soft". Fed up with waiting for the games, too. 360 seems to be getting all the love at the mo and who can resist the lure of Halo 3? Hehehhe.

Bad mistake that as the ps3 is about to explode. Buy planet earth bluray and you would change your mind.
