In the original, the Umbrella Paris laboratory was what Claire was breaking into, in the opening cut scene.
Presumably they changed it so that she gets abducted from Chris apartment?

Capcom is on fire in recent years. It's already one of, if not my favourite game developers. Most of favourite games come from Capcom.
Back in the day RE2 is where I stopped, I didn't reenter until 2011 or 2012 with RE5 and have kept up ever since. In 2022 I played RE4 for the first ever and a year later the RE4R came out. In 2023 I replayed RE2 through the remake and straight after played RE3R for the first time ever. Never played Code Veronica so am easily buying it when it comes out and by now it seems like a forgone conclusion that RE5 will get a remake and I replayed RE6 earlier this year and it holds up so doesn't need a remake. So we just need a modern remake of RE0 and RE and we're golden.

No it doesn't!
It doesnt need a remake, but not because of that.
For them to fix it, it would have to be nothing like the original.

Ohhhh yes!, definitely feeling some of the original's atmostphere from the trailer too which is good.

I don't have any issues with them changing the story to be honest.
As good as the game was (fully 3D rendered backgrounds!), the story was awfully written

Not particularly that, just the story in general.You took issue with the cross dressing?
It starts off promisingly enough, the mystery of being in a prison and the injured guy letting you go, but then you meet Steve who is an awful character. Doesn't he fall in love with claire after about 3 interactions?
The Alfred Ashford plot is ok to a point, but his sister just gets out of a cryopod and turns in to some super tentacle monster with no real development.
Oh and there's a bit where the Tyrant gets aboard the plane which makes no sense.
