***The Official Rugby League 2024 Thread***

With respect to the refereeing decisions, I'm a firm believer that it all balances out over the course of the season and ultimately on average over the course of a year you get the results you deserve. Some go for you, some against, we don't use robots to ref matches but seem to expect them to be perfect.

Oh, I agree that with the bulk of Super League referees the decisions good or bad even out. And I don't expect them to get every single decision right - that's why we have TMOs, after all. Sometimes they'll get it wrong, that's life.

But Kendall is genuinely a terrible, terrible referee.

That (Wigan v HKR) was a proper game last Friday. I'd be surprised if the GF wasn't between the same teams.

Pity that the 'staying down' incident has cast a shadow. I'm not a fan of this (it was drummed into me to get up as quickly as possible without showing any signs of injury etc) and I think that Jon Wilkin had a valid point on an automatic HIA if you stay down. It wouldn't really be a deterrent in the last minute of a GF with the scores equal mind. Difficult to know where to go with it - the tackle was deemed enough for a 1 match ban and we don't know how badly Dupree as injured (I'd have had a fortnight off work :)). Wigan have been on the receiving end of this already this season. Just hope we don't end up with 12 v 13 in a big occasion.

Gaaaaaaaah.

Watched the Dragons-Broncos match on BBC iPlayer. No complaints about the match particularly or the scoreline - Dragons ground out the win, London gave a good account of themselves.

But the commentary...

Jesus. H. Tapdancing. **** nuggeting. Christ.

How does anyone cope with English RL commentary any more? It's so ******* wretched. Really I'm upset mostly with myself for not putting in the effort to set up l'Equipe's stream to watch it with French commentary, who at least can follow a game without getting distracted by something shiny in the press box. And who have a passing understanding of the laws of the game.

Love that the BBC are actually showing Super League matches :) Hate that they're making watching those matches feel like a chore :(

I nipped out for 5 minutes at the end of the Leigh v St's game. I can only assume that this was when Jon Wilkin went on s rant about Welsby staying down, drawing a penalty/sin bin and not going off for an HIA because he didn't mention it otherwise. It did happen didn't it? Seems pretty quiet about it on social media.
