**** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note 20/Ultra Thread ****

Yeah Note series seems to have gone from pushing the tech forward for Galaxy line to being an after thought for Samsung. I also feel these basic models from this and last year just devalue Note series further as a brand and dont offer much for the price.

For those wanting a midrange experience and price with a stylus they could just have Lite version like they did with 10.

Did anyone pick up on the unpacked where they talked about the Note 20 Ultra colours, they said the bronze was aimed at being a gender neutral colour. Really. Good gawd.

Thankfully I didn't choose that colour.

Lol, nice to know I am not neutral, but I did think about bronze, what does that make me?
lol

Well, looks like my association with the note series is coming to an end & my current note 9 will be my last.

The wife has even offered to buy me a note 20 ultra as a belated birthday present as my birthday trip to Iceland was cancelled due to covid, but I've declined as the 20 just doesn't excited me.

Disappointing doesn't even start to convey my feelings with this. I just can't see myself buying a Note phone again :( they seem to have lost sight of what the people who were attracted to the original Note line were attracted to it for (aside from the stylus).

Was a very cringe moment, abit shoe horned. I also find the language barrier, engrish pronunciations abit awkward but also alittle sweet that it's somehow not completely full of western shills. Personally, they should stick with this closed studio format going forward. Maybe even pre-record parts to remove awkward jitters.

This doesn't seem like an upgrade from the note 10 plus. And the price is a bit ridiculous in all honesty. Can't see these selling well. Also the non ultra seems like over priced garbage.

Is it not the same price as last year, pretty sure the list on my note 10+ 5G was the same when it launched, so seems reasonable, obviously I don't want to pay so much I will wait for the inevitable sale or trade in offer before deciding but reckon a fold in on the cards, something that will cost more but reckon that is giving me something I really want, which is a tablet in my pockect.

I kind of get the feeling that the Fold is their new baby/powerhouse. The Note 20 got such little time in terms of spec announcements and what they've done to make it 'so much better'. It was more of a "here it is, Note 20 Ultra......moving on".

They're just taking the Apple business model approach now and have done for the last few years - In other words, take full advantage of the people that'll pre-order regardless of price and spec because they simply can't resist unwrapping new shiny things. Until that stops, they won't push to get your money, why waste so much engineering time innovating when a minor bump is still good enough to get good sales.

All you yearly pre-order chaps are almost making it too easy for them. They're onto something with the Fold though, give it another 1-2 releases and that'll be great.

I don't think so many will pre order this time, I wasn't going to but caved in at the last minute but to be honest its the same with most things, people buy a car then next year get a new one again, losing thousands but its their choice and I'm not going to slate people for doing that.
We actually got pre order stuff this time and that also swayed my decision, no I wouldn't pay £179 for those buds live but I've been thinking of buying the buds + for a while now so happy there.

The presentation of the Note wasn't exactly the best and for me the Note line should be the main attraction, the Fold 2 isn't even being released yet so they could have easily done a separate online introduction but anyway roll on 21st!

Ordered the white 256GB (still have 160gb free on my N10+)didn't think I could carry off the gender neutral mystic bronze(pink)
Haha, only thing with white and black is the shiny back, I think it's shiny anyway but most of the time mine will be in the Samsung protective standing cover which is also on pre order.

Agreed, yet there are people complaining about the lack of innovation but hell, pre-order anyway, they don't realise that they're actually part of the cause of 'easy incremental releases'. Ah well, each to their own.

I think they've staggered the release of the Fold 2 because it was rumoured to be cheaper than the previous generation and didn't want it hurting Note 20 Ultra pre-orders. Most will have the Note 20 in their hands already when the Fold 2 is released.

I am normally one of those people who like to open shiny tech,. yup that is me. coming from a note 9 to a s20 ultra (512gb) I am very surprised i was not actually tempted to purchase the note 20 ultra. i do not need the buds as i already have the sony wf-1000xm3 which in my humble oppion after owning the buds and buds + is far superior. the only thing that really peaked my interest was the latency of the s pen. Disappointing in them still putting shiny backs on the devices, although tbh all my phones go straight into a case so really does not effect me. and then we have the uk vers hmmz. nope i think i am going to see what the next ultra will be or the next note next year me thinks. or i might get tempted to the dark side with an apple 12 device.
In all honestly the current phone i have is fine for my needs atm.

The thing i was most looking forward to was the watch 3 and even that i dunno. what would i actually gain over my ss watch active 2. more storage(what i have already is fine) rotating bezel (been there already i have still got the galaxy watch 46 lte) and touch bezel on the active 2 i did not think id like but i actually do, The thing that stood out about the watch though, ecg they finally got certification from the fda, have no idea how this effects the uk, also they did not mention the fall detection that is in the active 2 and now watch 3.

I've had most Notes and currently have an S20+ and iPhone pro 11 max.

This looks no better then the Note 10+ I had, only reason I sold that was due to the lack of camera consistency, overall was a very complete phone.

Currently flipping between my iPhone 11 Pro Max and s20+ having been on Android for years, with IOS 14 it's improved a lot and has widgets etc.

Love the s20+ and almost the perfect form factor size wise, only issue I have is the Exynos overheating randomly and the phone getting very hot, battery life is okay but I have tuned and removed lots of forced installed apps and processes. The other day I had to take the phone out the case and turn it off, I'm not a gamer and was only using Chrome...

Was looking forward to the Note 20 ultra but no chance, seems like a lazy update and the added bonus of using the same Exynos makes this a no go, given they've added the 865+ to international models it seems a little insulting.

At this price you shouldn't need to compromise, will see what next year brings. I hope it's great for those that have pre-ordered

I personally find it insulting and under-minds the EU customer, hope this flops. Charging so much for a device thats hardly improved from the previous model.

Been using a Garmin smart watch from 2015, solid but quite outdated, so went with Galaxy Watch 3. Already got Galaxy Buds (first gen) which I love but by Aug 21 will have the Ultra, Live Buds & 45mm Bluetooth Watch 3. My drone & PS5 saving pot took alittle hit for the watch. Misses has an eye on £1,500 of it from train refund :D, for longer having to commute into London, so that'll keep me in the good books.

Why do you hate the Note 20 ultra ?

I do agree with everyone Samsung is charging too much for this phone even more so in this climate, if they charger the same prices as last year note 10 plus (£999) or even lower it may have been a better for them and they should be offering the same spec in all regions, maybe samsung had some restriction it could be similar to why they use snapdragon in the US but they are offering more storage with the exynos compared to the SD models which does take out some of the sting.

They keep following apple but they keep forgetting they dont have a closed OS like apple does.

I think we have gotten a little use to having major upgraded features from samsung in every flagship, your not wrong at that price you should expect a few but you need to consider nothing new may have been available at the time of development and also look at the competition.

if you compare the note 20 ultra to any other phone its still at the very top in terms of spec.

improvements over the S20 ultra
6.9-inch display with a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate
108MP camera with laser auto focus
Gorilla Glass 7
9ms S-Pen
UFS 3.1

We would have liked a better CPU, the ultra sonic max scanner, Face ID ect but its not a huge loss much better then in the past.

The note 20 on the other hand has been poorly designed and over prices if they did not try to cut every corner and over charge us it may have a chance, as it is now, you could tell me its new M series and I would believe you. all they had to do is keep the same screen type and glass back and you have huge improvements.

I'm happy overall, yes they probably could have done a number on the Exynos 990 like Qualcomm did with the 865, yes they could have put a bigger battery in but really no phone is perfect as we all know, if there was one we would all be buying it.

So am I. Too much moaning about the exynos. It may not be perfect, I don't game, so for me personally, it's no big deal.
