****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II ACCESSORIES Thread***

Went on mobilefun and ordered a couple of things from them. They should be here tomorrow and i will post my thoughts.

1. Case Mate Tough Case

2. Martin Fields Screen Protector

So then. My thoughts.

The Case.

Bloody brilliant. It fits perfectly with 2 layers of protection. To be honest it makes the phone easier to handle while not adding much to the overall size / weight. All the access point are still easy to get to and the buttons work as if there was not a case there. The case protects all over the phone

The price is pretty steep at £30 but I would be happy to buy another case like this if i needed too. Im more than confident the phone would survive a heavy fall.

The screen protector.

Again, bloody brilliant. Took a while to get on straight and crucially without any bubbles. It took a couple of attempts to get it straight. Of course while jigging it around a few air bubbles formed from tiny specs of dust.

With a bit of patience and some selotape i managed to get all air bubbles out. The only reason i know i have a screen protector on is due to the cut outs on the speaker and home button.

Quite expensive for only one protector but it was easy to peel off and start again. I would buy one again if i had to. I'll post up some pics in a few days.

So it is actually safe to use tape directly onto the screen? Wouldn't it leave any sticky patches/marks on the surface of the screen? Or is their a special type of tape I should use?

Cheers

the dust isnt on your screen its on the underside of your screen protector.

what you want to do is put some tape on the nearest corner of your dust to lift the screen proector up, then use another piece of tape, press the sticky side agains the dust spec and it should come away with the sellotape

BTW ive just recieved the SGP silke in black from korea, took about a week.

I have a casemate barely there, but it offers almost no protection in a fall imo. that aside its very good.

I was looking for something like the rubber speck case i had from my iphone 4, this isnt as thick or quite as tight but its a nice fit and doesnt attract dust, not bad for the spends

I failed. I got all of what I thought of the dust off. Applied it again but their was like another 30 bubbles, I took the screen protector right off, put a bit piece of tape over the protector and peeled it off thinking it would get all the dust off the back of it, applied it again, even more bubbles show up.

It is now in the bin. :p

Yeah a little bit of it came off when it accidentaly got stuck to the back of my phone I think, bit of a bugger to get off! Didn't touch the actual screen with the tape though, just the back of the screen protector. Oh well my idea failed by trying to cover the back of it all in tape and then peeling. :p

otterbox case whilst it looks good its used mainly by people in the construction industry to protect from a constant battering...

just a word of warning for anyone getting a case make sure you find out before hand if your chosen case will also fit inside the dock whilst charging or will you need to remove it...an easy oversight that can be a long term pain in the neck

Any tips on getting the dust off the actual screen before you apply a protector? Just going to pick a cheap one up tomorrow from a local shop till I wait for another one to be delivered.

Does clingfilm work well?

the mobilefun.co.uk site has been down for nearly 2 days, anyone else noticed this?

wow that's not good. Just noticed it's down but didn't realise it has been down for that length of time

@erazer007 there's been an issue at the data centre - we're hoping it'll be back up and running today

Anyone using the SGP GLAS screen protector? Is there a UK stockist for SGP stuff?

Thanks

I saw these last night, they look good and pretty strong indeed.

However what put me off was the limited colours they are available in.

I do not know of any UK stockists I think you will need to order direct from SGP

UPDATE: just read on another site, they are hard to apply and a few people even broke the glass when applying it, if they managed to apply it there were several air bubbles despite being able to reapply the glass and they also said its a dust magnetic and fingerprint non friendly

Just gone on a spending spree after ordering my SGSII:

Official screen protector
Official case
Official spare battery
Official battery charger + stand
USB Jig
SanDisk 16GB micro SD card

Anyone know of the best place to get a 16-32GB micro sd card? I didn't really look around much before ordering.
