***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Saw the Blue in the shop today - noticed that the colour of the button doesn't change shade like the rest of the phone in different light - stands out a bit too much.

Blue is no substitute for Black. :(

Honestly, what we're Samsung thinking?

The thing that impresses me most about the screen is the size and sharpness. Colours are vibrant on it too but not as saturated as the S2 but it's still very vibrant side by side.

Also typing on it is much more fluent than on the S2 due to the size. Less reliance on autocorrect to fix errors when typing fast.

When do you actually notice the sharpness in everyday use?

Honestly? They are both much of muchness. A big factor for me would be cost (are you willing to pay a little extra for the newer SGS3?) and all the user experience stuff (how it feels in your hand and software experience.)

I do very much like the Galaxy though. :)
Exactly the same price. Think, like you say, just have to get a feel for either one.

Depends on your usage,

Lots of white backgrounds and web browsing? EVO
Lots of films and black backgrounds? SGS3

I'd take the EVO for the IPS screen and aluminium unibody (and replace that two tone plastic cover asap :D)

I do lots of both on my current phone :(
I definitely agree on replacing the plastic cover!

One thing I don't have is patience :p will probably end up getting the Evo as it is out now and not in 2.5 wks!

When do you actually notice the sharpness in everyday use?

When looking at icons, reading websites etc. With the S2 I double tap so it zooms in fully and reflows text but on the S3 I can pinch in slightly and get sharp text and just fling around reading no problem.

I'll post a few sharpness samples below and a colour difference of a photo vs the S2.

It's the text mainly and when zooming into photos where details really stand out:

It's not immediately obvious but look closely and you start to see more details in photos on the S3 screen thanks to the higher PPI, text is smoother, icons are crisper. It all makes for a more pleasant experience.

NOTE: Ignore the colour differences of white and ignore the wavy lines which is caused by the digital camera lens at certain shutter speeds in low light. I cba setting up the lighting kit as you get the idea without them :p

snapdragon - read between the lines.

cheers mrk - I guess the added sharpness didn't grab me by the balls - more of a case of use it for a week then I'll really notice it when I switch back to the S2 for comparison.

There's a bug on the SGS3 currently that is caused by having auto haptic feedback enabled. It seems to interrupt quite a few games in a very bad way, I'd highly advise everyone to disable it for now. Sprinkle is the worst affected but I've seen quite a few.

DC-HSPA is only in testing for UK networks, I honestly would expect a decent rollout starting Half 2 2012 and even then, only through the usual rollout system (so Bristol/Birmingham/London/Edin extended trial followed by further metro rollout)

yea i noticed that, was wondering why that was happening! so just a case of being patient till they address bugs etc

How easy is this case to scratch, i remember someone in the thread already saying they have a big scratch down the back.

With my desire that i am still using at same time waiting for pac to go through, i have always been safe in knowledge the body wont scratch i will just put it down on any surface pretty much. This s3 is so glossy and light that i am scared to even slide it slightly across any surface for fear of scratching it :|

Can anyone recommend a browser for text wrapping with this phone? My old phone is a Desire HD which seemed fantastic when zooming in, it would just adjust the text to the width of the screen and worked very well. Gets a bit annoying having to scroll on the SGS3!
