***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Everyone and their children have the white one, go for the blue!

That and the rumour of the blue in the new batch being darker...

...get it in RED!

as im used to iphone the games always worked fine etc, but on this ive noticed some have skipping sound and the quality varies! obviously as its for all android phones but do they improve performance on individual handsets via updates etc?

Fellas,

If you were in the States which would you go for?
HTC One X (EVO 4G LTE)
Snap Dragon S4
16GB Storage
32GB Mirco Card
2000mAh
1GB Ram

OR
SGSIII (US edition)
Snapdragon S4
32GB Storage
64GB Micro card (max)
2100mAh
2GB Ram

On paper, the specs far suit the GIII however, I'm still not overly convinced in real world there would be much of a difference.
Urgh hate having choices :p

If storage is important then the S3, but if not... you've got a hard decision to make. Try them both out and see which you prefer.

With both having quite an expansive amount of storage, I'm not overly concerned. All my music is on Google Music, and I back up a lot of my videos/pics etc, so even with 48GB on the smaller side, is still more than enough.
I think I am leaning towards the EVO, purely because I like the design a little more.
Never had a Galaxy or Samsung, but my dad has the GII and while I like it, just seems the build quality is not there.

Also looks shopped TBH

Edit: Anyone ordered Pebble Blue (PB) direct from T-Mob? They quoted me about 3-4 weeks for PB as of yesterday. I think he was talking pish especially when I advised him that some people are now getting the PB S3. He stated that this is not right and they will get them recalled for the quality issue.... Don't think so IMHO.

Excited about extra-fast web browsing on your brand-new Samsung Galaxy S3? We certainly were -- but Samsung has backtracked today, admitting that the S3 won't support DC-HSPA after all.

Samsung contacted CNET to sheepishly inform us that the S3 won't in fact support 42Mbps DC-HSPA here in the UK, despite telling us that it would just yesterday. Samsung has apologised for getting the specs of its own phone wrong.

Yesterday we asked Samsung whether the British model of the S3 would support dual-channel HSPA, the next step up in mobile data speed after 3G. Imagine our joy when Samsung told us the S3 would indeed support DC-HSPA for data speeds of up to 42Mbps. But now the Korean company has admitted that only the LTE version of the phone will support DC-HSPA -- and wouldn't you know it, the LTE model won't be sold here in Britain.

LTE is an even faster data connection technology, heavily marketed in the US as 4G. We're moving towards creating a 4G network in this country, but we're still a long way behind the US and other countries. As a result, the US gets 4G phones that we don't, as well as 4G versions of phones that are stuck with 3G on this side of the pond.

Which is all very well, but can lead to confusion -- and not just among consumers, either, judging by today's debacle.

I was quoted 30 days with no definite time of arrival through T-Mobile

Sorry if it's frowned upon to ask in here, but I wondered if this T-Mobile deal I've seen on mobiles.co.uk is as good as I think it is?

- 300 Minutes,
- Unlimited Texts,
- 750MB Data,
- Free Phone,
- 3 Months half price

All for £26 a Month.

Is this a good deal? I don't use a great amount of minutes and I average around 600Mb of data at the minute. So I think it's a bargain, working out £585 over the 24 months (or ~£25/month).

What do you guys think? Is there a better deal elsewhere?

Thanks.

Honestly? They are both much of muchness. A big factor for me would be cost (are you willing to pay a little extra for the newer SGS3?) and all the user experience stuff (how it feels in your hand and software experience.)

I do very much like the Galaxy though. :)

Depends on your usage,

Lots of white backgrounds and web browsing? EVO
Lots of films and black backgrounds? SGS3

I'd take the EVO for the IPS screen and aluminium unibody (and replace that two tone plastic cover asap :D)

I bought the £10 case from Tesco today, I think it's good as it provides more grip and a bit of protection, however I don't have much experience in these things apart from blackberry holsters. Thumbs up from me.

Any recommendation for a screen protector?

That's the deal I got for the missus, she uses around 100-150 mins a month but mostly texts so its ideal. She won't use more then 200MB data either so that is also ample.

I have found mobiles.co.uk to be excellent!

BTW check your emails. :)

I'm very similar. I use a few more minutes, but 300 should be enough. I'll have that one then, going to ring up Orange tomorrow and see what they can do for me to stay with them though. Thanks.

Oh - emails checked.

There's a bug on the SGS3 currently that is caused by having auto haptic feedback enabled. It seems to interrupt quite a few games in a very bad way, I'd highly advise everyone to disable it for now. Sprinkle is the worst affected but I've seen quite a few.

DC-HSPA is only in testing for UK networks, I honestly would expect a decent rollout starting Half 2 2012 and even then, only through the usual rollout system (so Bristol/Birmingham/London/Edin extended trial followed by further metro rollout)
