You can root and keep the stock ROM, just rooting allows you to remove the bloat Samsung put on and also remove ads in apps among other things.

It does? Sign me up then i will be doing that the moment i make sure i have a properly working handset lol.

Can i remove the apps through normal app manager once its rooted or is there some other method? My desire is rooted but I did that to change the available memory and put on a faster rom which has worked wonders for it, Didnt realise there were other reasons to root :)

Yup the way I do it is using Titanium Backup Pro, simply freeze the Samsung apps you don't want and they are tucked away by Titanium and removed from the system. That way should you ever need them again, just defrost them.

To remove ads, simply get the free app AdFree from the Play Store :)

My main reason to root is that all app data and app backups are via it so when I restore, no further setting changes are needed in each app and my game data is also restored as well.

Think I'll definitely be rooting and installing a custom rom. Was in bed last night listening to music and held the volume up to change track, ended up just blasting the ears off myself :(

Anyone know of any roms that have volume button track change? I used to use Oxygen on the Desire.

Thanks simulatorman! I had to rush off to work..I literally popped the battery in and checked for Dead pixels and looked over the phone for any defects then popped the phone back in the box.

@Danger Phoenix Postman Pat will be ringing the doorbell soon!

The phone is definately Pebble Blue and it doesn't appear Gunmetal grey like it it in those youtube vids. I took some very hurried shots, I'll try and post them later if I'm not swamped at work.

@mrk Only 5 hours to go 'til its 4pm!

I was wondering if anyone has gotten a Vodafone 32gb and whether it has any branding at all?
Also, I think it is from the German Vodafone network and wondered if the phone would be identical to one here.

If anyone has used sotel, or even better, actually gotten the S3 from there, I would love to know what you think.

(they have blue ones too, but not in stock)

If you mean me, I usually don't post to forums much unless it's something I can't google etc myself.
Couldn't find any answers as to wether it's worth doing or just to wait for 32gb to not be locked to vodafone so thought here was the best place to ask.

Not sure how else to get help without posting the links so people could actually see what I was talking about and have seen throughout this thread mentions of many companies and deals so thought it would not be an issue.

ED: Also on a note as a forum noob, when I registered it kept asking me questions on stuff I had no clue about, beans and football, took me 3 times just to get signed up, lol.

Voda's apps for some reason default to germany - it's the same on the 16gb. Reset the language to english and reboot, should fix it.
 
I hate you all.

Play still have no clue when they are getting stock and the thought of having the phone tomorrow is really tempting... but £70 tempting??? ARGH what to do, what to do!
