Just when we thought we knew everything there’s to know about the Samsung Galaxy S3, it surprises us with something new.

Repair specialist iFixit has made a curious discovery courtesy of photos of the phone’s innards taken by reverse engineering outfit Chipworks. Apparently it packs a Sony BSI (backside illumination) sensor that’s also on board the iPhone 4S.

“Chipworks has confirmed that the camera has a Sony BSI sensor, and that it’s basically the same unit found in the iPhone 4S,” iFixit said in a blog post.

From the phone call I just had they haven't received stock and have no idea when they will recieve stock. I was told it could be next week and I couldn't be guarenteed a phone. They would give no discount for the wait or any kind of priority after having changed my previous order to white themselves.

Just got mine & had a quick look at the back under natural light - Looks to have like an oil effect on it.

Is this normal Or have a I got a dodgy handset?

Yup the oiily effect exists on all the white ones I have seen belonging to family members, only visible in certain light at an angle. I imagine this is the hyperglaze coating 'effect' though.

Will check mine tonight!
