***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Check Chipworks' website for a teardown, the middle section is one piece so you'd have to do some work and buy new housing I think!

I dropped mine last night (doh) and dinged the metal (look) edge. In a couple of months I don't think I would be too fussed but for now I want it to look pretty! Does anyone know if that edging is replaceable and if so where you can pick up parts? I have touched it up with some model paint and it doesn't look too bad but would like to swap it.

Another advert for using a case...

OMG! USB to Go ROCKS!!!!

Bought a cheap £4 cable off the bay - mouse, keyboard, 2x USB flash drives and a 80GB USB portable drive all loaded without issue.

Might need to find a splitter cable so I can plug in power to the phone and have the UTG cable in at the same time - I'm guessing powering a USB disk will drain the battery pretty quickly.

I've read the opposite... almost every professional review and user feedback ive seen says the battery is good!

I don't base too much on experts views for battery life any more after reading gsmarenas battery duration test for the X and S and then seeing what everyone is actually getting with proper standard usage in the end :p

Your friend has a battery draining application installed or is doing something wrong then! My usage has been no different to the S2 although I'm giving the S3 heavier usage and multitasking just because it's considerably more effortless on such a big screen! Battery usage remains consistent. I know this has 100mAh more than the S2 but the screen is bigger so that difference sort of breaks even anyway although I did read somewhere that Samsung stated this screen is 30% or something more efficient than previous AMOLED screens.

Yeah, I will have to get him to install better battery stats to see what it is that is killing his battery, should be getting better as I don't think his usage would be as heavy as yours either.

The usage certainly is very impressive for the GS 3 going by yours and gmans! Really wasn't expecting it to get over 4 hours on screen time with one charge!

Yup, apparently the pentile matrix is also better for battery life than the RGB matrix as the same was said for the HTC one S and partly being why they went with Samsung's pentile display instead as well (amongst supposedly being tweaked as well)

So mini review / my impressions.

Got the phone on Monday so I've only really been using it for a few days.

The phone is really really slick, feels very nice in your hand and I love the colour of the pebble blue one. The UI is again very fast, much faster than my iPhone 4. Being able to get Chrome on the phone and syncing my bookmarks across is just brilliant.

Data speed seem very good, I'm on giffgaff and pages seem to render almost instantly in chrome, stock browser or ICS+.

Really cant get use to the amount of customisation that you can do with android, compared to iOS I can pretty much do anything on the phone I could think of.

Now just to decide wither or not to root it.

What's that ebay link/name of the case you suggest mrk? I was going to go caseless but I'm slightly worried having just got the phone.

Rock Case, genuine one of course. It feels amazing in the hand and the material/texture is excellent too. Looks nice too and feels like a part of the phone.

When I first seen that case, I didn't like it that much! However, seeing more and more photos of it and especially mrk's photos :p it has grown on me a fair bit now, may have to get me one now as well :p :D

It has the advantage of covering up the majority of that cheap looking blue colour :p

Wait, WAIT! You have an S3 upgrade from your One S?

Has the World ended?!

Also, the phone does stand up on its own with this case :p
