Kies is being a nightmare. Reinstalled last night because it wouldn't recognise my S3, plugged it in again today, doesn't recognise my S3. Is Samsung trying to imitate Apple in another area, make Kies are terrible as iTunes.

Oh well, another Kies reinstall incoming! /sigh

I generally find when Kies won't connect I need to restart my phone rather than the software, have you tried that ?

Ha thats what you call timing, i downloaded wanam last night and was going to install that today, might not bother now lol

Edit - Running 4.1.1 now, should keep me happy for a while.

Anyone noticed the icon bar at the top of the screen is now a light grey and not black? (where the battery/wifi etc indicators are)
Stands out more, i prefered the black, anyway of changing it back?

It's been grey on all JB ROMs (official and custom) - Only way back is to install a theme after rooting and flashing a de-odexed stock/custom ROM.

Well Kies has just updated me telling me that there is new firmware out for my phone (on O2). Just started the download - let's see what happens!

Just turned my phone on 5mins before trying to connect, so I guess its not that

Anyway, reinstall fixed it again. Firmware updated, I'm all Jellybean'd up now!

Yep using a USB OTG cable and I use the paragon app to mount them. You need to be rooted though.

You can mount a USB stick without rooting though, S3 supports USB sticks out of the box. It's NTFS formatted sticks you need to be rooted to mount.

I really notice the difference in smoothness from the official JB update to ICS.

The lag in ICS was starting to irritate me.

I can confirm this also (damn you for beating me to the punch! )

Fire up Kies and it should download.

Ya know, now you said it i can also notice its a lot snappier now compared to how it was, still a horrible lag from pressing the home button to unlock the screen, even though svoice is disabled or whatever it is.

True, although I get the same lag even from pressing the power button. I assume it's intentional, but would be nice to have the option.
