***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Does rooting a phone with Jellybean involve any different steps from ics?Could someone do a brief rundown on how id root then get the volume raising hack to make it louder?

Got to say I'm impressed with JB so far, quite a difference from ICS, more responsive and overall feels more... Well made? I think.
Anyway got a question regarding the Gmail app, a few days ago there was an apk for it and it had pinch to zoom among other features, thought it came from a JB rom, yet the one that's on mine doesn't do any of that in fact it's the same as before, version 4.1.2 app.

4.2 != 4.1.2.
KLP = 4.2

T-mobile contract but possibly unlocked phone as it was purchased through an online reseller...

Notified of update around 0800 this morning, will have to wait till tonight to download it though!

In Jelly Bean battery life a bit shorter than before but that is probably due to extra processes running in background such as Google Now. So far I'm impressed, a more satisfying update than iOS 6 which was double the file size and I had to fully restore. Smoothness could be improved even further. AOSP Jelly bean keyboard works well so far and offline dictation as well.

I was losing confidence in Samsung due to the perceived delay for unlocked models. Hopefully they follow through with the next update google are unveiling on Monday.

They'd best

There is no real excuse for Samsung to delay 4.2 or any other updates for months now. Google released the PDK for Android during the JB launch event which, they stated, gives the OEM's access to the new Androids a couple of months before launch so they can do their thing.

It will be interesting to see if that is the case.

Finally done my flash of wanam 4.2 and the JB domination and have to say very very nice. Flashing wasnt as painful as i thought it would be, was quite simple in all honesty and when i restored my backup from titanium, everything was back to how it was before i flashed the phone.

Only a few things that are niggling me ie the led notification light is now stupidly dim:confused: God knows why Google did that as i read its part of JB. Chainfire 3D to get tegra games to work on the S3 isnt compatible with JB, which sucks and theres no news as to when the dev will sort it out. CWM is also not compatible with JB as well but thats not a huge issue really as i can still boot into recovery should i need to. Also ICS browser+ doesnt work with JB, hope the dev fixes that soon as i like the browser rather than the standard one.

Quick question when JB domination 1.5 is out, do i need to re-do all my flash or do i just need to flash the new JB domination over the old one??.

Loving JB though, its very smooth and fast. One thing i noticed which im sure wasnt on the stock rom i was using since i first got the phone is that now in the camera, you can actually speak and it will take a pic...how cool is that??:D ie if you say smile, cheese, capture or shoot it will take a pic.
