***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Its a weird review - basically they say its a tie because the Galaxy S3, despite being better than the HOX in every single department, isnt as good looking as the HOX

GSMarena are good for general reviews (and camera comparisons) but nothing else. The SGS3 isn't better than the HOX in every single department either, here's how I see it.

Design: HOX
Materials: HOX
Build quality: ? (assume it's close enough to be irrelevant)
Screen: HOX (close enough to be irrelevant)
Outdoor legibility: SGS3 (close enough to be irrelevant)
Video recording: SGS3
Camera stills: HOX (close enough to be irrelevant, only the controlled indoor test is good enough to compare)
Audio: SGS3 (close enough to be irrelevant)
Storage: SGS3
Battery life: SGS3 (close enough to be irrelevant)
General performance: SGS3 (close enough to be irrelevant)
Gaming: SGS3 (close enough to be irrelevant?)

So ultimately it comes down to design/materials vs storage/video recording.

My winner is: Neither, both are too way too big for real world use! (at a push the One XL ...if they sold it here :p)

I will wait to see the thing myself, but from what you said it looks like the GS3 is the better phone because it does have the better screen as well and is still marginly better than the HOX, but if you want the aesthetics then you should get the HOX, but if I wanted design aesthetics I would go with an iphone vs HOX.

I am really struggling to see a need to get this phone over my GS2. I really hope I see it and it blows me away, but I perceive it being really difficult because quite frankly my GS2 does nothing wrong right now....

LOL well tbh coming from an iphone4 and using the One x, i thought it would be too big but honestly it isnt...i think 4.7" is about the right size, any bigger then yes i would agree with you but your claim that its too big for real world use is laughable at best....of course for some it will be too big but i dont have particularly large hands and i find the One x a perfect fit plus it feels quite nice in the hand, ive seen quite a few people now carrying the one x on my daily travels to and from work. Ive even had a few people ask me which phone is it when im using it on the tube. If anything is too big for the real world, its the Galaxy Note **** me thats a monster slab to carry around:p.

Will the S3 be able to drive these headphones?

Denon AD-H2000
- Input impedance, 25 ohms
- Sensitivity, 106 dB/mW
- Maximum input, 1,800 mW
- Playback frequencies, 5 - 45,000 Hz
http://www.denon.co.uk/uk/Product/P...nes&SubId=OverEarHeadphones&ProductId=AHD2000

I've heard these headphones in a shop and they sound amazing however they are 'hi-fi' headphones and suppose to be driven by a dedicated headphone amp. Will the output of the S3 be able to power them ok, like is it possible they won't go as loud or drain the battery a lot faster?

Screen size is perfect for every day use what are you on about!

Also, it's Chica time!

In same boat here. Must... resist...

I think you've hit the key point here - 'close enough to be irrelevant'

That is what GSMArena are thinking too. Obviously in use, the benchmarks and other things show no real difference at all, so they're good for bragging rights only.

It doesn't tell us anything we didn't immediately know, that if you need the storage (as GSM said, most people probably don't), the SGS3 is the better option.

The various online (non-Android fansite) publications that have had a hands on with the GS3 all admit that the design and feel is uninspiring to say that least. That doesn't mean everyone will dislike it, but it does seem that nearly everyone has had to convince themselves to buy/preorder it based on that alone... which shows how much strength there is when it comes to overall feel and design quality.

I haven't seen and held it yet so I'm not saying anything for definite, but HTC seems to be a long way ahead when it comes to design (if nothing else :p).

Indeed, had the One X had an SD slot I'd probably have bought one weeks ago, whereas now I'm waiting for the S3.

Just came across this image of the rear of the flip case in chrome blue. Hope it looks better in real life.

Its the same back plate as the blue version. I want to know what colour the other flip cover backs are. Its they are like the Galaxy Note version, the back plate is the same colour as the front.

Yeah same colour front & back, and similar to the 'pebble' blue as the handset. There seems to be just the two, blue & white, coming up for sale. There was descriptions of a grey (silver) one for sale, but that seems to be unavailable now.
