**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S21 Family Thread ****

Mate has just got one of these and whilst it looks like a great phone I can't understand how a phone that costs in excess of a grand doesn't have the ability to take a memory card. Yes it has dual sim slots, but so does my Realme and that can take a memory card too.

I must admit, even though I've come from 2 Pixels that didn't have memory cards, I'm a *little* bit salty that they got rid of that, makes you wonder what happened to the Samsung that was all things to all men. That said though I do absolutely love the phone so far.

Just look at the long list of iphones that have never had memory cards.....

In this day and age, perhaps I'm getting old or I'm different, I cannot for the life of me see what's the problem with losing the memory card slot. it's not needed now. back in the day when you had 64gb of storage, i would agree, but when you can get 256gb or even 512gb. you can plug your phone into a cable save it to your desktop, cloud storage. What's the deal. heck even if it still was there it was never as fast as the internal memory. You can also send it wirelessly to a nas drive also. Yes, it would be nice but it's not necessary. iPhone users put up with it.

I like to keep my music collection on a memory card, means I can just drop it in my phone or my music player or just slot it into the car and have all my music with me all the time.
Surely for your car you just connect the phone via bluetooth and play your music? And what 'music player'? Again surely your phone can also be your 'music player'? It is 2021 you know :p

Next you will be calling for a return of headphone jacks :D

I'm the same with the memory card slot, cannot really remember the last time I used one in a mobile.

I always got the high class ones but they were always prone to corruption or that annoying Android issues related to app installs or Google photos not working correctly with it.

I always go with 256gb and that's fine for me.

Still, everyone has different requirements from their phones.

My s21 arrived a couple of days a go. Great phone with the exception of one issue. There appears to be a plastic film over the S21 screen which is disintergrating around the selfie camera cutout leaving bits of debris. The more you wipe the more debris appears. After contacting tech support it seems Samsung apply a screen protector in factory before shipping (not requested) which can be seen in the pic. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue?

Yeah that looks a little weird, like someone else mentioned, almost asif there's two on there?

One slight criticism, the top speaker above the selfie camera (which is so thin I didn't even realise it was there) is already starting to collect debris when the phone is put in my pocket. I've cleaned it with the edge of some thick glossy paper but I feel like it's going to look a mess in a very short order :(

Yeah my S20 FE was exactly the same. There's no visible grill on it if I recall.

Agreed.

I don't miss sdcards at all. They were always slower than the internal storage and would occasionally flake out.

I used less than half the storage on my pixel2xl 128gb anyway

[edit]
I didn't think Samsung phones supported aptX?
I've been streaming radio to a minirig2 bluetooth speaker @work all day and checking the developer options, it says it's using aptX. Happy with this :)

lol, current battery stats.. 32min screen time, 49% battery

Yeah I had problems with sd cards as well. Surprising how often they would fail.

I think Samsung supports SBC, AAC, AptX and LDAC, but does NOT support AptX HD. Happy to be corrected.

S21 Ultra black leather case came, that's me done. No more accessories needed. Managed to get everything for £1079 with work discount, cashback and credit for case being delayed by Amazon.

- S21 Ultra 256GB
- Galaxy Buds Pro
- SmartTag
- Official Samsung leather case (black)
- 3x 65W PD & PPS 3 port chargers
- 4x 2m 100W cables with emarker chip

Plus already have:

- Samsung Galaxy Watch 46mm
- Official Samsung Wireless Faster Charger Duo

What was the cashback?

I thought I'd try out the S Pen, so ordered the official Silicon Case plus S Pen. It's just been delivered. Whether I stick with it remains to be seen - I usually have a flip case that covers the screen, in addition to a screen protector, plus it also holds cards. Not sure I can live without another line of defence. :)
