I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on this one for me? Apologies if it's already been covered...
So, I swapped from a Galaxy S21 on EE to a Galaxy S23 on Three and ported my number over, all went smoothly.
On my S21on EE, I often used WiFi Calling especially at work and my folks house due to not great signal. On my S23 however, despite WiFi Calling been enabled, it doesn't seem to be active and the icon doesn't appear in the top bar. I have spoken to Three and their 2nd line team but they haven't been much help.
If I put the Three sim on my work iPhone, WiFi calling is fine, which rules the sim card out as faulty, and if I put my work Vodafone sim on the S23 then WiFi calling is instantly enabled and the icon appears, which then rules out the S23 as been faulty.
It seems to be only effected when it's a combination of the Three sim and the S23. If I enable Airplane Mode, but then turn WiFi back on, the WiFi Calling icon appears and it works fine, however when I turn off Airplane Mode and I'm back on cellular, the icon switches off.
It's almost like Three are telling my handset not to allow WiFi calling when the signal is good enough. Is that a thing? Additionally, some S23 users screenshots I've seen allow them to select their preferred calling network, either mobile or WiFi, in the WiFi calling menu but I don't have this option available?
Handset is on the latest update with nothing pending, and all apps up to date.
Am I doing something daft or is this Three switching it off on this handset whilst I have cellular enabled?
I'm baffled...
