*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Don't give up! All is not lost. Not until the 14th anyway.

If this turns out to be the S4 and that's a big if mind you looks like Samsung have again taken Apple's route in design policy.

The thing is stoosh, knowing Samsung and the way they have adopted apple's style, we can expect to have a phone, which won't be too different design wise :p :(

At least the side bezel is very thin.

Speaker moved to bottom again? I expect i'm in the minority but I like the front speakers on the One :/

Yeah, I am disappointed about that too, if true (case leak also shows that the speaker will be on the back), front speakers is such a good "pro" of the HTC one (for me anyway), the difference it will make when watching videos etc. is going to be huge and from the sounds of all the pre/reviews so far it sounds like the audio is just out of this world compared to every phone, not just for loudness but clarity as well and I thought all the current phones i.e. gs 3, one X+/S etc. were superb for this already!

I thought you'd love it. :D :p

If it was pink, maybe.........

:p

The plastic looks glossy to me....... Although it is a poor picture. Can't see Samsung loosing it either, have had it since the GS 1.

The texture in this official poster appears to match the texture on the leaked images of the front of the phone adding weight to them imo.

The iPhone 4 > 4S revolutionary design route. :p :(

Positively spellbinding! It goes to show that Samsung either have no imagination when it comes to designing phones or have a very sick sense of humour. I hope to God neither proves to be true.

It's such a shame if the leak ends up being true. Samsung were supposed to be innovators and provide the public with a healthy alternative to the iPhone brand.

Samsung's tactics remind me of a film Face/Off where the tagline was in order to catch him he must become him. That rings very true if that is the case! :D:p

The thing that is annoying as hell! Is that they can design good looking phones/use nicer finished plastic i.e. the older standard phones i.e. Samsung soul u9000 and then a more recent phone, the ATIV S, for some reason they just decide make ugly android phones now.

Excellent way to describe Samsung! :D

Superb film that!

Samsung's problem is that they think this 'look' and plastic is the way forward so they won't change it.

It's not as if they are trying to make an ugly phone (believe it or not), they just don't have the same sense of style that we do. :D :p

Completely agree. For their time, the Samsung Omnia HD and Samsung Wave were superbly designed handsets.

I have the Omnia 7 somewhere and that's all metal. Last one I can remember that isn't plastic. :(

Yes indeed. I owned an Omnia 7 briefly and that was also a lovely phone with its metal back. So we know Samsung isn't averse to metal - it's just that it doesn't like using it for its Android handsets for some reason.

To all the people dispairing about the proposed design:
What is it thats so terrible? I'm begining to feel like I should take a trip to specsavers by actually saying i like the design with you lot acting as if its some sort of abomination.
I'm curious to know - what does a good phone design look like to you? :)

It's not horrible, but it's just nothing special, that's all. I had no issue with the GS3 design but it was quite 'meh'.

A good looking phone? The HTC One and iPhone 5 both look and feel quality. Okay I haven't used the former but it's pretty much a given.

That is so true. The Ativ S was a lovely looking phone, granted it was made out of plastic however it was extremely nice to look at to the point where I was quite envious. I can't remember the last Android phone that they brought out that made me go wow that is a gorgeous phone I like that!

Going back to Face/Off, yes it was an excellent film. John Woo's best American effort to date and more akin to his HK style of filming and story. :)

It also means that they can churn out thousands of devices without breaking out in a sweat to meet with public demand. We are stylish chaps on this forum! And demand the best! I for one certainly don't want to put a blot on my stylish ways and pull out a butt ugly phone from my pocket. It just can't be done! :p

Article on phone arena as to which render/leak the "people" wanted and my favourite one won by a long shot :D

People crave a premium Galaxy S IV that's made of metal, but Samsung wouldn't listen

@Rimsy

Will wait till I see good photos/videos of the actual GS 4 but the reasons "I think" the GS 3 are ugly:

- too curvy corners at the top and bottom (they can keep the ergonomic curves)
- the camera/speaker/flash looks like it has been stuck on with glue and just looks weird
- glossy plastic, was fine like 2 years ago with the gs 2 but not now :p
- the brushed look just does not work with glossy plastic
- hard home button, which looks out of place (looked fine on the GS 2) and most importantly it has a different finish to the rest of the chassis since it didn't have the "hyperglaze" finish
- think it looks cheap

So if the GS 4 is as shown in those photos then most of the above could apply to it again.

As for what I consider a good design:

- one S and one X (hate the camel hump camera lens though) and one
- the above render/leak of the gs 4 (my link)
- nexus 4

I think it looks great.

Plastic is better than glass. Rounded is better than square. Hard home button is better than no home button.

The vast majority of people would appear to agree, which may explain why the Galaxy line is so popular!

No keen on the silver edge and front speakers on that render (though front speakers would be better, I just think they look ugly there)
