*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

At least it looks marginally better than the GS 3 :p could have done so much more though :(

Touchwiz looks even worse now, dropped the black menus etc. for white.....

Camera does look huge so looking forward to seeing what they have done.

The phone looks pretty big though especially the height.

Looks like they are following apple with the design.. making minimal changes to it :p

Maybe so but I have a funny feeling that Samsung have thrown in a curve ball with the teaser picture they have released. If you look closely there is no speaker grill, no front facing camera or sensor. Unless they have an innovative way for consumers to listen to a call hidden up their sleeve, this is all rather fishy.

I'm going with the mindset that the final design won't look like the S3 and if it does I'm going to be extremely disappointed :mad::(

Yea the promo pic doesn't have a speaker grill, yet that video does, interesting.

The promo pic is just a shadowy shape, I don't see how they could drop the earpiece from a phone...

It also could be a diversionary tactic as it's basically the shape of an S3 in the shadows.

What I really like about Apple is that when they release a product it's made available almost a week afterwards. If Samsung can copy Apple, why can't they copy this aspect as well?

We'll probably see the device mid - end of April, gives them a good month to sort things out unlike HTC!

True. Their organisation when it comes to launches is pretty special, especially given the level of demand they need to meet.

I was also thinking the other day, about the race to keep up with/beat Apple- does Samsung have any retail stores of it's own? Probably sounds a bit minor or superficial, but this is where I think Apple will always have one up on any other manufacturer. Apple Stores are always bustling with people. They are quite pleasant places to be in, and show off their products really well.

Sure, 90% of people passing through might not necessarily walk out with anything, but I don't think that matters. It's surely the ultimate and exclusive 'come look at me' factor which Samsung are missing. I mean sure you can go and play with products in Carphone Warehouse for example, but it is nothing like going into an Apple Store.

Just because it appears to be the correct internals doesn't mean that it's the final design as Samsung put the SIII internals in a couple of different cases to keep the final design secret.

Yep, their launches are pretty "special" when it comes to demand :o.

Well, yes they also run into supply problems, but given that they shift more products at launch than any other manufacturer can even dream of, and they manage to pull it all together within 1-2 weeks of the announcement, I think it's still pretty impressive really, no?

Yes I am really impressed with how Apple handles its products upon announcement to release.

Samsung have retail stores in Westfield (Shepherd's Bush and Stratford) also upstairs in P4U (Oxford Street). Don't forget Samsung had these "pop up" stores in key locations around London. Sure it's nothing like going to the Apple store and having a good go on their products, likewise going to CPW doesn't exactly have the "wow" factor.

That's how Apple have the jump on their competitors, they market their products to such a degree and generate a following and a loyal fan base, then you can go to the Apple store and buy as and when you wish.

Superb but very basic premise behind it all but it works really well.

Samsung take note!

Not really, it'd be more impressive if they waited an extra month, then did what they normally do, but with decent stock levels (ignoring any faked supply issues for publicity/hype).

Shipping some phones around isn't really impressive IMO, although compared to Google they're like ****ing magicians :D.
