*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Have you tried taking a completely stock unrooted firmware and then flashed it with Odin to get you 100% back to stock? There could be dodgy modems etc at play here.

At the very least seeing as it's working I'd take this opportunity to reset the flash counter and unroot it if I were you.

Sorry I should have mentioned in my previous posts that my S4 was never rooted prior to the problems occurring and it has always been stock since owning it. However, also MEA/MGA firmwares which I have relfashed several times now have all been stock (apart from the MEA firmware which another member posted on here by another member which I think was rooted as it came with SuperSU but I have since re-downloaded a different stock MGA firmware which comes with all of the original binaries, modem, recovery & kernal and I have flashed it back to that via Odin so the phone is how it should have came out of the factory).

I submitted an enquiry to Samsung last night and I spoke to them today about the issues, to which they have honoured a repair request and the phone is being sent to them for analysis next week.

Can someone point me to a place to describe - in terms even Patrick from Spongebob could understand - how to root the S4?

Search YouTube for easiest s4 root or easy s4 root and look at a few that are relevant and have good comments, I like cursed4eva but he's just one among many.

It can get as easy as just browsing yt on the phone and downloading a couple of links to your microsd off a video opening them and then picking them off the screen having restarted your phone by pressing power and vol in the correct manner as shown in the Vid then when it restarts you're rooted and can use root only apps and alter your fw, simply put.

Use discernment and care when picking the Vid to follow.

Quick question guys, been using my phone a lot as a satnav with google navigation, I have my phone charging via usb in the car and while not in use it charges fine however using navigation it does not, the battery drains. Would a car charger fix this? And why doesn't it charge via usb? Sorry to sound silly.

Ohhh - how'd you do this? And also how did you get the buttons to switch certain features on/off on the notification screen? I'm running the PAC Man rom but it's my first time not using stock!

Finding the phone much smoother and speedier now though.

Get a 2amp car charger and it will charge as fast as your mains charger.. I bought a belkin one from the jungle and its great. (Mine is the socket type you can connect any usb cable into, thus being able to charge any usb devices).

The reason for the drainage? GPS uses a lot of battery, more than the 0.5amp a normal usb charger can deliver.

Ahh I see, didn't think of the usb power output been so low. I will have a look at the socket types thank you :)

Finally got the official ota update to my sim free. Now I can start moving apps off the internal storage.

Wallpaper is under settings - ROM Control (AOKP) - General UI - Choose notif background. Alpha setting too.

Toggles are under Settings - System - Notification drawer

That APPS2SD is a waste of time - you can't move big game data.

Finally got an S4 on Three (moved from O2). Not had much time to really play with it. But I am looking to get the Google Edition stock ROM put on it at some point. Once it has been streamlined with 4.3 that is. Otherwise, I am loving the phone a lot. I've ordered a custom case for it which will have this as the cover. Can't wait for it to arrive! :D

Does anyone know what this little icon is in the status bar? Had the phone for a few weeks but this is the first time I've seen it. Something to do with calls I'm guessing as I missed a call and it's been there ever since.

(Its the hand one)

Completely agree :p 9GB or whatever is plenty for a ton of apps (excluding the BIG games)!

Just letting him know before he posts in this thread about the above problems :p :D
