*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

No, I had to reset phone and disable and reinstall Google play services as it was killing battery. I stopped location history as well.

I couldn't barely get a couple of hours sot out the thing.

My S6 Edge is the same. Manage around 2 hours SOT normally which coming from an iPhone 6 plus is pretty terrible, however there is so much to love about the phone. I do hope they get the battery life sorted in the next update as i'm finding my S6 tethered to the power all the time.

I have reinstalled the Google play services just now so I will see if that makes a difference but to give you an idea so far mine is:

78% battery left,
3h 5m and 45 secs on battery
33m SOT
Approx 8 hours left.

Not great.

I managed just over 4 hours SOT over two days this week, granted I was managing my usage a lot but the battery can last, was not using power saving mode either.

Greenify is your friend.

Anyone got the Ultimate Shield tempered glass screen protector for their S6, worth getting for a tenner or are there better?

I'd like to know this too. The thing is, all the glass protectors I've seen so far don't cover the top gap around the speaker like they do on my S2. Here's my S6 with the basic film protector I put on that came with my case:

I did see on the ultimate shield website a film protector for the S6 that does cover it, but I wonder if their glass version does. It might be a tiny exposed area of metal but it could still be scratched.

I'm one disappointed bunny. I've got to send my S6 back to Virgin. After 3 minutes recording video at 4K, CPU-Z is measuring my CPU at 80 degrees!, and the phone is really uncomfortable to talk on for a while after. Playing racing rivals for 1 minute takes me up to 65 degrees.

Samsung confirmed that is way too hot for normal operation. Something's obviously gone wrong during manufacturing.

Anyone fancy doing me a favour and see what their temps are after 3 mins of 4k recording pretty please?

Samsung confirmed it? really? It's pretty normal for them to reach 70-80C when recording 4K video which is why there is a 5 minute limit. But they don't feel hot to touch, just a little warm. I got 75C here but I did a full 5 minutes.

Same story with gaming but obviously not as hot, not sure why or who said that, but that is normal. :D

This feels really hot to the touch though. And it hits 60 just doing general things on it.

If what my phone is doing is normal, then I'm not sure I want it. It's too damn hot. Surely it shouldn't be uncomfortable to make a phone call on?

It's hitting 45-55c here for general use and doesn't even feel warm. Not sure how accurate these readings are but mine feels fine.

So opinions on the best case for this? I've picked up a couple of fairly cheap Ringke cases to keep me going until I settle on something better.

Obliq Ultra Slim Fit is a nice case but adds bulk to protect the camera.

I quite like the orzly flexislim case as it adds minimum bulk to the phone and offers good grip.

Depends what you want really.

Any way to stop it from showing "All Contacts" in the text message contacts window?

If I go into Phone contacts... I only see the contacts I have manually added... I change groups etc and I seem to get things where I put them.

When I go to add contacts to a text message... I only get the option of "All Contacts" or "Group"... as in, select the whole group to send a mass text message to that group...

With all contacts selected, I get every email address I have ever been in contact with in the list and it's a nightmare to sort through when I only have about 40-50 phone contacts.

Any way to stop this crap? I don't even want these email addresses stored on my phone.

It's something that drove me away from Android a few years ago and I see it's still being stupid... at least it hasn't synced facebook contacts too this time, lol...

I'm probably missing something obvious...

It automatically lists favourite contacts at the top... but I don't want to add all phone contacts as favorites just to get them available to me.

Anyone?

I think I will still send it back as it does feel a bit too warm for my liking. If the replacement is the same, then I'll know for sure that it is normal as the likelihood of getting 2 defective units in a row is minuscule.
