*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

It's 2 weeks old.... My Z3 was naked for a year and nothing like this. If fact in was pretty much spotless bar the chip in the corner from when I dropped it.

It's got loads of micro scratches where the window on the case is and nowhere else weirdly, they only stand out under artificial light.

I think having that particular case on it might actually be worse than leaving it naked as it traps the grit.

Fantastic, I've had the phone 2 weeks in an official S view flip case and it's scratched the hell out of the screen. I thought itwas only the clear view case affected by this issue?

My god I don't know how Samsung are successful it's complete amateur hour in pretty much everything to do with this brand.

Do Handtec deal in grey imports or will Samsung honour the warranty if bought through them?

That sucks man. I know it's after the horse has bolted, but I would always put a screen protector on regardless of a flip case.

A couple of quick questions.

1) Is there a totally stock android lollipop rom for the phone, Basically make it a nexus phone in terms of how stock it is ?

2) Is the stock android clock widget available ?

Running the most up to date official Samsung build.

That's what I want also.... having had a Nexus 4 & 5 and still using my trusty Nexus 7 tablet i'd love to run that rom on my S6.

Anyone know if it can be done yet??

You'll not get a stock ROM unless a Google Play Edition version of the phone is released, but the GPE program seems to have stalled.

The problem for third parties is that the Exynos CPU code isn't open source, so people are having to try to hack their way around that, and the last I read it wasn't anyway near ready for stable general usage.

Apparently a stock theme has been approved by Samsung and should be available in a few weeks, but that's about the best you're going to get any time soon.

Stay away from flip S view cases grrr...

That would **** me off so much. How much would it be to get the screen replaced? I don't think I could live with that as a brand new phone.

It looks worse than that under certain lights, some of the scratches look like finger smudges that won't rub off and there's a couple of little pits in the glass I can feel under me finger.

I've sent them my proof of purchase, just waiting for them to authorise a repair. 2-3 days for that apparently.

That's great news! I'm sure they'll replace it for for free, particularly as the problem is due to their own official case.

Do put a screen protector on the replacement screen though before you use it, even the cheapo plastic ones, as that will definitely prevent micro scratching.

Is there no CM rom available?

Well no, as the CPU is closed-source. Short of Samsung opening the code up or hackers reverse coding it, it's not going to happen.

It's very different to the Qualcomm CPUs, which are open-source, hence the code being freely available to developers.

I'm using samsung smart switch right now, transferring from S2 to S6. Pretty cool the way it shows everything on both screens. Quite slow though, it says 70 minutes left.

Some questions:

The screen rotation is working on most things but not on some. It doesn't rotate on the home screens, the clock screens, the phone screen and probably some others. Is this normal behaviour until I install a launcher?

What launcher is recommended? Am I right in thinking Nova? I've been happy with apex launcher on the S2 but I don't know if apex is still around?

The s planner calendar is ok, but I'm used to my S2 calendar where I had it in month view and by clicking on any day it would go into day view so I could scroll up and down to see, edit or create events. On the S6 S planner, you can only change to different views with the top left tab. It's fine but not quite as convenient. Or is there a better way I can do it?

I'm not sure that this samsung smart switch will transfer my games with save games and configs in place. If not, is there an app that does? Helium perhaps?

It's in a tpu case at the mo and I've got some tempered glass which I can't fit until I know what's happening with the screen.
