*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

Galaxy S6 got delivered today. First impressions: love the build and the screen looks great. Touchwiz is still horrible even if you can theme it, evident slowdown using their quite terrible launcher. Camera seems very good though I'm not a fan of the interface. Wish front facing speakers were standard, been spoilt by the Nexus 6. Samsung Keyboard is pretty useless so replaced that too. Messages app also replaced.
Honestly I wish they'd just make a Nexus phone and leave the software alone.

I wrote a polite email about my broken case (see previous page), saying how disappointed I am.
Got this :)

From Caseology customer services in California:

"Dear Customer,

Please provide us with your Amazon Order number and I would like to reship the outer gold frames for you free of charge.

Please let me know if this is acceptable for you and I again apologize.

Thank you for your understanding.

Pretty much decided that the S6 is going back, mostly due to its horrendous battery life. I've used it for less than an hour of screen on time today and I'm already down to 50% battery, off the charger at full at 1am.

In comparison, my Z3 Compact would be around 80% battery left, and the Nexus 6 not far behind it.

^ Wow that's nothing like my experience I've never got less than 4 hours sot.

'Android System' seems to be keeping my phone awake, though I've disabled everything non-essential that I can think of.

Really can't be bothered to fight with the phone to make it work as it should out of the box. Can't root and run betterbatterystats because I can't return it then.

So either I'm going back to the Nexus 6 or I could try the LG G4.

Post your battery stats, you could need a new battery because dropping to 50% in less than houris obviously not right, even when gaming I get better battery life than that.

Tried a factory reset after updating? is the phone throttling in benchmarks even on the first run?

I did a test before the 5.1.1. update and after with the same result. I timed how long it takes to lose 1% of battery just on idle, and I don't keep anything on like wi-fi or bluetooth until I need them. My result was 40 to 45 minutes per 1% drop. That's about 75 hours standby, or about a 10% drop from 100% to 90% overnight if I slept for 8 hours. I don't know what the standby time is meant to be, but the update hasn't made it worse for me nor has it improved it either, and I'm quite happy with it. Apparently there's a second update which will improve things. Unless you've got a lot of background stuff going on, I guess you should be getting similar.

No idea what's going on. Did try the factory reset after the update to 5.1.1 (and the post-update, 200mb or so). To be honest I had quite a few other frustrations with the phone so didn't really take much convincing myself to send it back :)

Well it'll protect from scratches sure, but I doubt it would withstand a fall any better than without the skin, and the camera has zero protection.

The phone and glass are pretty strong in drop tests, most of the damage was cosmetic which it should help with. The camera is somewhat protected as the bulge is raised just above the glass.

All the "slim" cases I've tried that protect the camera completely ruin the feel of the phone.
