*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

There's an article in the Sun today (I was having my hair cut and it was on the chair next to me so I glanced at it while I was waiting <yes I feel dirty>) and it buts Samsung S6 dead last for battery usage compared to a whole bag of other phones.

I would agree with that ... i still really like the phone even though i have to charge every day and i am not a heavy user.

I have the latest patch and have not noticed ant difference but then im not really looking for one.

Testing the latest french update, there is now zero lag when scrolling the settings menu, even the play store seems relatively lag free when scrolling.

Multitasking is definitely better, tried two browsers and two games and cycled between them with no reloads.

Recommended for those who can't wait, this one's worth flashing.

So I have had the phone a few days now and is a great upgrade from my previous S4. Nothing out of the ordinary, just improvements on the S4.

I knew people said the S6 battery wasn't too good. I thought nah it will be OK. Put it this way the battery drains quicker than my 2.5 year old S4. Terrible.

They need to bring an update out to sort this battery draining issue ASAP.

I know it charges quicker but I seem tied to charging this phone a few times a day ATM!

Um, what exactly would this magical update do?

The S6 has the same size battery as your S4 but a hell of a lot more hardware to power. Battery life isn't getting any better so either accept it or get a different phone.

I used to get around 3 hours SoT at the most out of the Galaxy S4, with the Galaxy S6 I consistently get around 3-5 - 4 hours.

I consider that pretty good considering the Galaxy S4 at the time wasn't crippled by lollipop, I dread to think what it's like now.

You really do need to keep an eye on app battery usage with lollipop, or you will find apps or even Android services draining away 20% of you battery for no apparent reason , basically lollipop = fail.

After a cache reset and a play services re install the phone will pull 4-5 hours sot. That grinds down to 3 ish over the course of a couple of weeks.

Something is badly wrong.

Are the edge phones as hard to hold as most reviews seem to indicate? Seems to be a recurring theme that they all have gripes about having limited areas to hold the phone because of the tiny sided bezels without activating something on the touchscreen, plus its apparently very slippy to hold. Does adding a case make it easier to handle?

I dont like the s6 edge for that reason, but that's just me. i think they took it too far.

Ive seen a few display models but they're tied down to those stands in the 02 store so not too easy to get an idea of what it feels like in the hand. It looks nice but it does seem a bit gimmicky, getting a screen protector onto it would also be far more fiddly. And the ones that did stick on would probably be prone to lifting on the edges after a while.

Just have to see what happens with my lumia 930 return, if they're able to fix it or i get credit towards another phone. Just fancy a change.

A few weeks ago I left mine on the unit in the bathroom.. Little did I know it was slowly moving over the surface. Dropped easily a meter onto a tiled floor  I was downstairs when it happened. Heard a thud from upstairs. My phone was face down on the floor. Needless to say it was fine. Just some damage on the metal frame. Nothing major.

S6 Edge+ comes Friday. Already got my Spigen case ready for it.

Other half has standard S6 so I know how slippy that is. Dread to think of the S6 Edge+ without a case on it.

Seems a little form over function if its really that much of a pain to get a hold of. Seen a few people say if it had been flipped so the back was rounded and the screen flat it would have been easier to hold. Either that or make the bezels thicker.

As iv'e never owned an android device, is there any truth to what i've seen in some user reviews that the phone starts to get more sluggish after a month or so?

Had the edge for nearly a month.

Performance hasn't degraded. Have no idea why people are apparently complaining about difficulty holding the phone? Genuinely, if you can hold any other phone then you can hold the edge. It feels a lot nicer to hold than any phone I've had before and I've never accidently touched the screen because of the curve.

Stop worrying. The phone isn't perfect but neither is any other and the s6 is arguably the best phone you can buy at the moment.
