*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

A few weeks ago I left mine on the unit in the bathroom.. Little did I know it was slowly moving over the surface. Dropped easily a meter onto a tiled floor  I was downstairs when it happened. Heard a thud from upstairs. My phone was face down on the floor. Needless to say it was fine. Just some damage on the metal frame. Nothing major.

I would have been gutted to get even superficial frame damage! Once that happens I start to lose interest in the phone, it needs to stay pristine for me for at least the first year. I've had a couple of heart pounding moments where the phone has been connected to the charger and I've caught the cable and the phone has gone to the floor. But only like a couple of feet to the carpet and also while in its protective case, so not a scratch thank gawd.

Is there a consensus on the best case for the standard S6? Ideally something that covers the screen and allows use of camera when case is flipped.

Anyone using the Xposed framework on their S6?

I really want to change the ugly status bar icons back to ones like stock Android, but voiding my warranty for that (I assumed using Xposed voids warranty) seems a little excessive just to do that!

Have you tried the "material design" theme from the theme store? It's quite nice and stock-ish.

Depends if you want super thick super protective armoured cases like the hard plastic otterbox, super thin like the orzly condom cases :p, or something in between.

The S6, both types, are not easy to hold naked at all. The Edge is worse. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong, put simply. They are VERY slippery and that makes them difficult to hold. I much prefer to hold my S4 mainly due to it's weight, shape and lack of slippery-ness. Also being all plastic and more of a normal shape it feels massively more robust, despite the fact the actual build quality on the S6 is significantly better.

Don't get me wrong I love my S6 (in it's case) but with it's glass back and square/rounded slippery metal sides it's definitely form over function.

Anybody else got an update today for the S6 of around 86MB? I am on 5.1.1. I can't seem to find any information on what has changed. Here is the build number:

Ordered an s6 edge plus with case and screen protectors, hopefully here for Friday :). Ended up going with an amovo hybrid defender case so just hope the screen protector isn't too much of a pain to apply.

Tried clearing the mic socket? This was a problem on my S4

Tried this, did nothing, it has something to do with the connection, I get 1 bar of 4G and it causes issues with voice quality on receiving end, even if I try Wi-Fi calling it's still the same, however when I switch to 3G which the phone is suppose to do, it sounds a hell of a lot better. But the phone doesn't it tries to stick with 4G (I can't keep going into settings and switching to 3G) and causes call quality issues, never had this problem with Three/iPhone. Really do like this phone, anyone got any solutions?

Good for you. 9 hours off charger, 90 mins sot and 35% left.

This phone is crap.

My experience of the S6 Edge battery life over the last 2 months is identical to that of Kitch9's.

Now, I can get 3-4 hours SOT providing I don't want that over the course of a whole day.

For example, I take my S6 off charge around 7am, if I then use it for 3 hours or so browsing the net then I can also get great SOT until 10am however my battery will also be at approx 50% however probably a lot less if i'm honest.

Now I cannot get 3 hours SOT spread across the whole day having taken the phone off charge at 7am and go to bed at 10:30pm ish without having to charge it again at somepoint during the day.

So Ebilcake, when you made this post it was 10:53am. At what point did you then need to charge the phone again to get through the day.

The drain is not from the SOT in my experience of this phone. It is somewhere else.

I do hope that kind of makes sense :)

Has anyone switched to one of these coming from a Nexus device? I'm tempted by an edge but really don't want to move away from stock android. Is there anyway to root and change roms on this phone? Cheers

Don't remember exactly but it's between 10-11pm most nights.

I used to have the same problem, if I find any applications using more battery than they should I just remove them and find an alternative, after doing that google services doesn't seem to drain my battery either.

The problem seems to be background applications and the ones that stay active for no apparent reason.
