*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

I also can't fault three. I remember the days of when they were absolutely useless and have been with Orange ever since (10+ years). After I had some hassle with orange a few months ago I gave the three Sim only a go and it has been a revelation. At one point last week I was getting 55MB download speeds on 4G!

What merger are you talking about?

I'm due an upgrade, and I want the s6, but one of the things I am most concerned about is the battery life. Reading a lot of posts in this thread seems to give me a 50/50 idea that some of these phones are useless and some people deal with it.
I am thinking for piece of mind to just go with the M9. The obvious problem being is that there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer of sorts.

Anyone got an opinion on this.

My battery life was dreadful until I turned off a few default services and stopped mail front automatically syncing. I now get over a day from my S6 and no long want to throw it out of the window.

Any recommendations for the best leather flip case to get for the S6 edge? Seems like a hard job to find rated ones that are not trying to be a wallet.

Don't use a flip case without a protector, the screen scratches easier than perspex. Good luck getting a protector that doesn't halo and trap dust.

My personal experience is that for the couple of times I didn't use a screen protector for a few hours, the glass didn't scratch, but then I obsessively make sure I always put it in a pocket that has nothing else in it, not even a tissue or piece of paper.

Regarding protectors, yes, I find it very difficult not to get at least one particle of trapped dust. So I don't even bother with expensive glass ones, I just buy packs of half a dozen regular plastic film protectors for anywhere between 99p and £2. They're absolutely fine and cheap enough to peel off and put another one on if you want. They work well and don't affect screen sensitivity. With a case on as well, there's not much to worry about if it drops as the lips of the case prevents the screen from making contact. Obviously though a glass one would, in theory depending how much you spend on one, give better protection from impacts.

Bloody amazon, even late last night my order was "in process" yet today all of a sudden its delayed. Have to take a trot to one of the o2 stores this evening to have a looksee.

Well seems they've not got it in stock yet over here, and apparently even if it was it would be contract only as its only out. Snagged a black one from amazon..."guaranteed sunday delivery" apparently. Se how that works out.

Really? Is Gorilla glass a con?

First screen looked like it had been rubbed with sandpaper after being in the s view case 5 days, I got the screen replacement done under warranty, I couldn't get a screen protector to fit without lifting at the edges so I decided to run without a protector but just be careful, the phone always had its own pocket which was checked for grit religiously.

It lasted a week and got covered in micro scratches again, God knows how.

By this point I completely fell out with the phone and lost interest. I have whacked a cheap PET protector on it (lifted at edges) weeks ago and I now abuse the phone, it goes in with me keys, money whatever. No sign of scratches on the protector after a month or so.

Go figure..

I had my Z3 compact a year naked and it picked up one small scratch after abuse.

Got my S6 Edge+ today. Absolute monster of a phone, imo. Although I'm unsure whether to root it or not.

looks beautiful doesn't it? I already have the Edge but am stuck choosing between the Edge plus and the Z5 Premium. If I go for the plus, it will have to be on aesthetics and familiarity. Does anybody have any pointers to some good contract deals across all networks for the Edge Plus?

Bah, that sucks man. Had I known, I would have happily sent you a couple of my protectors before you started using the phone with the replacement screen. Minotaur invisible clear protectors. Oddly, they seem to have just stopped selling them for the S6, only iphones, S4 and S5 now. Don't know if there was issues with them, but mine stick down perfectly, no sign of lifting and this one's been on for several weeks.

The only difficulty I had in installation was that the protector has no excess width, it's exactly the screen size and not a mm more, so no allowance for error. Took me some time plus some sellotape on one side to keep it aligned. Worth it but fiddly to say the least!

Yeah, I looked for those after you mentioned them and couldn't find them. Ended up going for Spigen which is as good as I've found but as you say no wiggle room.

Yeah, looks absolutely incredible. Looking at pictures and videos is amazing. Didn't expect all that much to be fair. Thought it would've been more gimmick than anything but I'm pleasantly surprised by it.

I'm with O2. Paid £9.99 for the handset. £40 a month. Unlimited minutes and texts. 10gb of data.

Was paying £34 on last contract for 750mb of data so I don't mind whatsoever.

Sounds like the deal I'm after. Is this an online only deal, upgrade or walk in to the shop? If I can come up with a couple of quotes I can negotiate with the (third party) supplier I'm with called Daisy Telecommunications. Though they tell me the don't do EE, which I find hard to believe. I'm not happy with Vodafone Thanks
