*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

So your comparing expandable storage to OS+Ecosystem when choosing a phone? Riiight.

So if theoretically Apple made the iPhone 6 with and without expandable storage your saying the latter woudn't sell more? Hmmm yeaah.

The fact that you have to spell out to him why you need the extra says it all really. Can't see past his own bubble.

If you're going to try and be condescending, at least consider getting you're/your right. Of course an iPhone with expandable storage would probably sell more, that's not the discussion point though. Apple sold more phones in total due to having the choice of extra screen size with the iPhone 6 Plus, yet the masses didn't turn away from Apple previously despite such larger screen options existing on other platforms for 3+ years already.

Yes I'm comparing those because it backs up my point. Things like ecosystem and OS are far more important to majority of people than expandable storage is. If anything, it could be argued that iPhone users have far more need for expandable storage because they tend to consume much more content.

No one is saying you're not entitled to expressing disappointment that the S6 supposedly doesn't come with expandable storage. I'm just pointing out that people can't claim the phone's sales figures are going to be poor because of the fact.

For me, if a phone were released in two versions - one with an SD slot and another without - I'd go for the former so long as there wasn't a price premium.

The lack of an SD slot isn't going to turn me off the S6 (if it turns out to be the case) but if between the S6 and the M9 I'm REALLY struggling to make a decision, it could become the defining factor. I sincerely don't expect to end up in that position though.

Battery life is going to be extremely important.

Sorry Miss.

You are very much missing the point. My point was:

Plenty of competition on Android, not so on iOS.

Samsung don't have the luxury of leaving out an sd slot like Apple do as they have much stiffer competition from direct Android competitors.

I can see why Samsung has done it...maximise $$$ from the ones that do buy it. But as a consumer, why anyone would argue in favour of Samsung's decision makes little sense.

No one is disagreeing about OS+ecosystem being more important.

People go on how it's a minority that cares about sd slots...so why would an iPhone with sd slot sell more than one without if both were on sale?

It's because people have common sense and don't want to pay though the nose for extra storage if they don't have to.

Cos I spend 4 hours commuting to and from work each day and have tonnes of stuff to catch up with because my work / home life is extremely hectic.

I commute three hours a day and storage is never a problem for me with my current 16GB S4 and no SD card. I can fit enough TV shows, movies and music into that space to easily keep me going a few days.

Have you ever considered that people have differing requirements?

Really to keep offering your examples and not appreciating others is rather narrow minded.

That's the first example I have given all thread isn't it? Unless you're going to trawl through my posts and prove me wrong?

I asked a question, he answered it. I explained why I don't think he needs as much storage as he claims. If he does, then that's obviously up to him. I'm not being narrow minded, so keep those comments to yourself and don't take this thread somewhere it doesn't need to go.

Oh so it's ok for you spout 'those' comments and no one else. Give over.

I am chilled out. I'm not the one getting my panties in a bunch on forums crying over features a mobile doesn't have. If people aren't happy then contact Samsung and give them feedback; moaning on here will achieve nothing.

The problem isn't in no sd card but the price premium on the memory upgrades, thankfully apple reduced the price of getting the 64gb by £80 with there iphone 6/air 2/mini 3 so paying around double what you would on a sd card for internal storage is fine, but i wouldn't want to pay a 5x+ premium on it.

I like how those other Chinese phone makers offer a 16/32gb option but then go for one memory upgrade of 64/128 but at a reasonable price.

But samsung's mobile profits dropped big time in the last year so i guess it's one of there plans to increase profit,i mean apple make most of there record profit on people 'forced' to upgrade to the higher memory models.

If apple had a base model of there ios devices with memory slots i would guess there profits would drop dramatically...

You're just upset with me for some reason. Get over it and move along.

Don't you get tired of being wrong?

Agreed haroon, it wouldn't be such an ordeal if they priced reasonably. But it seems that some here are very willing to pay through the nose because Apple do it too, so that makes it ok.

More or less need a minimum of 64gb now, with things like 40mins 1080p shows taking 2gb now it stacks up really quickly. 1 Season of something and your down 30gb+, throw in your photos, games, apps. Quickly have no storage.

I always encode my phone videos down to 360 and a mate with his S5 also does the same and you really can't tell any difference when you're looking into a 5" screen.

More storage is always better. Everyone agrees here. Paying a sensible price for it is all that is wanted. And that is why people favour sd cards over built in storage. More and cheaper.

The ideal solution for me is 32GB internal + sd slot.

Where am I moaning? If you're going to quote me then make it relevant. You're just upset with me for some reason. Get over it and move along.

Moaning about moaning or explaining to others why they are wrong to have a certain requirement when said requirement is entirely subjective, are the comments you made that resulted in others commenting negatively towards you, I hope this helps you understand.

It's a shame 3 is the only network that offers unlimited 4g,if we all had access to stream our content from the cloud we wouldn't have to worry so much about local storage.

And what's with people started to have a go at each other...is this the dark side the ocuk forums i see :P

I would still rather have it on local storage. Not everywhere has a good reliable signal.

But I agree, that would help considerably.

I often stream Netflix on 4G (EE) during my commute. I have a 20GB allowance, so it's not really an issue. Poor signal between London and Beaconsfield is though. Hopefully EE coverage will improve in the future.

I'm also on EE 4G 20GB. It's wonderful. However as said not reliable as I'd like. Though a damn sight better than T-Mobile's HSPA I had before.

Anyway, less than 24hrs to go to see official specs and hopefully pricing. I hope Amazon get this in stock ASAP.
