*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

No camera2 API is a major bummer. I was fully expecting full shutter control as they verbally state "Pro" and "DSLR" in their marketing yet there's no shutter control? How can it be legally allowed to do this when one of the fundamental objectives of a pro camera is to allow manual shutter control?

other than that, the swiftness of the UI and the real time HDR combined with OIS are things that people will definitely be making use of.

Please tell me you're joking. If you want the features of a Pro DSLR then buy one. This is a mobile FFS.

What? I hope you're joking more like

He clearly says "...a lot of the settings you'd make using a DSLR". One of those settings is manual shutter control. Lollipop allows this but Samsung haven't put it in yet have labelled it Pro mode regardless and are likening it to a DSLR.

That's false advertising.

"a lot of the settings" is not equal to "all of the settings" not false advertising in the least, if anyone assumes wrongly then it's down to them not checking thoroughly.

Pro mode means jack **** I'm sure lots of things are listed as such, if a car has expert mode, race or pro mode do you then imagine it'll behave like an F1 car ?

*sigh*

Some of the complaints in this thread have been stupid, but I don't even know where to begin with yours. I am going to be polite and tell you that I think you're expecting too much.

It's Lollipop, it supports full camera controls and Google has made it clear about this countless times and made the API available to be used. giving a "Pro" mode to the latest Lollipop powered flagship phone and then not making use of those controls isn't expecting too much from an enthusiast user's point of view. It's a genuinely fair expectation and if you say otherwise then I'm sorry but you're wrong.

If Sony's Lollipop release doesn't have the API features then that too will get a moan although less so because they've not marketed anything on it (or anything whatsoever anyway for that matter lol).

Again, the camera on this phone is a highlight feature, it's definitely fair to expect full camera controls. You can argue otherwise all you want, I will not be changing my opinion.

You're throwing your toys out of the pram, it isn't false advertising.

The clue is in "a lot"; technically Samsung are offering features of a pro DSLR with phase detect focus and subject tracking.

dammnit the note 5 can't come out soon enough for me after finally getting around to having a proper look at the S6.
impressive work Samsung (stupid battery and no water resistance aside)

+1,i was hoping the s6 would come in at 5.3-5.5 but it just seems bit too small for me.

Note 5 will carry over the same design and rumors are a 4k screen, cortex a72 based exynos with mali t880,4gb wide i/o 2 68gbps...i can hope :p

And samsung will release a retail gear vr http://www.theverge.com/2015/3/4/8149599/john-carmack-gear-vr-samsung-full-launch-fall-2015 :D

Some of us don't want phablets you know. I realise some people do, and that's nice, they can buy a note, but I wish people would stop insisting that the standard phones must keep getting bigger as well, I'm just glad that nonsense seems to have stopped.

I'm glad it's 5.1" I had a Oneplus at 5.5 and it's just colossal. Maybe could stretch to 5.3 at the very most. The green is growing on me too.
