*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

Some of us don't want phablets you know. I realise some people do, and that's nice, they can buy a note, but I wish people would stop insisting that the standard phones must keep getting bigger as well, I'm just glad that nonsense seems to have stopped.
The bloke just stated his needs. Not yours or others.

It's Lollipop, it supports full camera controls and Google has made it clear about this countless times and made the API available to be used. giving a "Pro" mode to the latest Lollipop powered flagship phone and then not making use of those controls isn't expecting too much from an enthusiast user's point of view. It's a genuinely fair expectation and if you say otherwise then I'm sorry but you're wrong.

If Sony's Lollipop release doesn't have the API features then that too will get a moan although less so because they've not marketed anything on it (or anything whatsoever anyway for that matter lol).

Again, the camera on this phone is a highlight feature, it's definitely fair to expect full camera controls. You can argue otherwise all you want, I will not be changing my opinion.

I am working on a full manual camera app. Hold tight my friend. You can help beta test it once I get a basic version done

erm.. thats why we're looking forward to the next note. 5" is indeed the perfect size for normal phones but for those of us who have got used to note size screens its a lil bit small plus I actually make use of the stylus a lot more than i thought. different people want different things :p

Of course they do, and that's fine and is why the note exists. And I realise many of you want such things are looking forward to it. But he also said he'd hoped the S6 was bigger, which would leave little choice for those who don't want a huge phone.

ah fair enough missed that bit - making the S6 any bigger would alienate an awful lot of people like you say. I think they got the size just right and had i not "spoiled" myself with the notes screen I'd snap one up in a heart beat.

They can do one if that's the case. You can't be slapping in a QHD screen, beefy specs, lower the battery capacity and not compensate. I would have happily taken another few millimetres for a bigger battery.

Changing themes should have no impact on battery drain, it's simply changing assets in the UI. I've not used a phone before that drained almost 3% in 5 mins of normal use at max brightness. Note: Max brightness is used outdoors automatically anyway.

Maybe it's just a random bug or something though so not worth faffing about just yet.

Start of the video shows the time as 13:45 and 51% battery left. By the end battery is down to 48% and time has just turned 13.52.

That's up to 7 mins for 3% drain. Extrapolate that out and we get around 3 hours 50 mins SOT. Considering the brightness was set to 100% (see 1:07) and the demo was more intensive than average usage, I'd say that's not too bad.

As said will wait for real battery tests.

And see the post be low yours.

Knew battery would be poor

I understand all about efficiency etc but still why not put a bigger one in
Especially as battery life is only going to deteriorate in time
Oh.. More important with no interchangeable battery

Said it a few times for 5+ in phone even with 1080p I'd want minimum 3000mAh

Jumping to conclusions without having seen controlled tests. Well done!

You can't fight it.
The screen + pixels are going to be primary drain
You can do what you want with efficiency but as far as I'm aware screen isn't revolutionary in power draw.
Outside with full brightness isn't going to be good. Let alone 2 years down the road

Compounded by having to recharge the battery more cycles as it's smaller

The show conditions weren't really a day to day scenario. Phone is probably very hot too being on full brightness all day which doesn't help. And software's not final.

Here QHD S5 is giving the same battery life as FHD S5. Would you have thought that?

Like I said, wait for anandtech's controlled battery review.
