**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

This is an amazing phone, Samsung have done a very very good job, 6 months ago i wouldn't even think about moving away from Apple, glad i did. :)

That's .... impressive!

How does the home button feel on your S7? Mine feels funny, almost like I'm clicking it twice, when I'm clicking it on the left of the button.

You know, when I first got my S6, I wasn't happy with the home button. Pressing the sides, it wouldn't respond well. I went to a nearby Samsung service centre who proceeded to repair it but it was the same after. They then just fobbed me off and said you're not to press it on the side. Well as it happens, when holding the phone in my right hand, my thumb often just reaches the right side, so I need it to be functional wherever I press it. I ended up having an argument and telling them where to stick their lousy service. The Samsung service on the phone however is very good, it's just their shops that are useless.

Then went back to the EE shop where I got it and they begrudgingly exchanged it for me. Guess what. The replacement has been perfect ever since, home button responds flawlessly from centre to edges. So if I were you, I'd definitely get it changed if you're not happy with it. At £500 to £600, you should have it the way you expect it to be. A bit of hassle, but better than living with something for a year or two that doesn't feel good.

Tried RAW on both of my phones.

Maybe the S7 is over exposing the image with default settings. I will try tomorrow in the day with natural light and not bulb light.

get some rope and take some pics yourself, see what you think.

Download these files and check them out as well.

Zoom in on the animal boxes on both images.

I'm liking the camera really. The low light performance and crazy focusing speed is a happy trade for me against super cropping and zooming in on an image.

I see what your saying though. It may get tweaked in some updates.

Is there actually a protective film/layer on the camera and flash part this time? Doesn't appear to be on my phone from what I can tell.

Can anyone confirm if they had this on their lens? I'm unsure as I can't really tell looking at it or easily feel like there's anything to remove.

Mine had no lens plastic protection.

Edit, yeah no layer on the flash this time either. It was a pig to get it off the s6!

Nice comparison there clovis

Ah yes, that'll do it. Seems good too.

What palm swipe though?

Here ya go. http://www.androidcentral.com/how-take-screenshot-samsung-galaxy-s7

Tilt your hand to the side a little, so your thumb is pointing away from the screen. Then swipe your entire hand across the screen in either direction — left to right or right to left, it's your call. Just like in the other method you'll hear the shutter sound and see a short on-screen animation.

This method is enabled by default, but you can turn it off in the settings if you prefer, or if you find you're accidentally taking screenshots.

Here's how to turn off the swipe method of taking a screenshot on the Galaxy S7

Go into the settings menu.
Scroll down to "Motion" and choose "Motions and gestures."
Tap "Palm swipe to capture."
Hit the toggle button from on to off.

Haha, that's pretty cool. Cheers for the input chaps : )

Anymore secret Samsung things?

I got kind of used to a sony thing where by it would automatically make a montage video of photos if you happened to take quite a few over say a week. Was pretty cool after getting back from a holiday to just have it appear a few days later. Anything similar?

...and I don't mean apps. I'm far too lazy for that :p

The lens is at its widest when set to 4:3 over 16:9, on other phones setting to 16:9 still kept the same lens fov, just cropped the top and bottom to make the aspect ratio 16:9, on the S7 the fov is widest at 4:3. I guess this is due to the 4:3 sensor and lens being made 1:1 with other whereas others are not so? Or perhaps due to the dual pixel setup?

Either way, not a big deal, can always crop in apps later if needed.

Still haven't finished setting it all up!

What would be nice (and hopefully what will come from a future update) is if it were possible to only have the Always On display when plugged in. It's a feature that I'm not too bothered about, but I can see it being handy at night when I want to see the time.

Enable night mode...

What's the best way to transfer all my settings and apps from a note 4 to this before I set it up.

I've got lots of banking, email and business stuff on the note which I can only imagine will be a pain now it all needs setting up again.
