**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

The mobiles.co.uk deal is now £200 for the handset lol.

I got to try the Gear VR today in the Samsung store in TC. There was a sky diving demo playing and it was very decent... just the resolution that let it down. They wanted £80 for it, I left without one. Now I'd pay around £50...

Need a new phone as my One M8 battery is on the way out, has anyone picked up a silver S7 Edge yet? I notice a few places have the following SKU model in stock, was wondering if it will work in UK/Europe?

SM-G928FZSEBTU

Thanks

Neil

Thats a SKU for the S6 Edge Plus, the S7 Edge is a G935F

Doh, that'll teach me for not reading the page and just looking at the pictures! Looks like the S7 edge isn't available in silver here officially.

I've had the device for a few days now and there really is only one main criticism that I can say about it. It's something I noticed right after I powered it up for the first time.

The display is using pulse width modulation (PWM) to control the brightness level of the display, my eyes can see it most noticeably when the keyboard is present and the screen brightness is set anywhere below 70ish%. If you take a photograph of the screen with a high enough shutter speed, you'll also see evidence within the photo.

PWM pulses the display on and off rather than directly controlling the power to the display to control the brightness, it's a more efficient method of controlling brightness and saves battery power, but it's not great for the eyes. If the number of cycles per second is high enough, it can become pretty much invisible to the eye, not the case here though. Appears that the S6 had a PWM frequency of 240hz, if I could find my homemade PWM measuring tool, I'd run a few tests to see how it compares.

It's not bugging me too much but it's still a bit annoying, this is the first time I've ever noticed this with a phone before.

So taken the plunge and had an S7 delivered today. Everything transferred over and running stock touchwiz at the moment. Only thing i missing at the moment is having the time my alarm is set for on the screen with the clock when the screen is off.

Is this possible?
